The big drop occurs after #3 tbh. And I'm a huge Manu fan.
Where I struggle with that is Kobe's defense, which has gotten to be fairly poor. He's the Derek Jeter of defense -- defends hard, looks good to the naked eye, wins awards, people swear by him, but the stats say otherwise. Manu's defensive numbers are better by a considerable margin, while his offensive numbers are only slightly worse (this year).

Joe Johnson is ahead of Manu at this point. Last year Paul George was a 2, but because of the Granger injury he plays the 3 now. I'd put George ahead of Manu as well.

For all the times that Ginobili has bailed the Spurs out in the past, while the mistakes recently are glaring, I consider it just a by-product of trying to do too, too much. Now that TP is back, we should see the Manu that deserves that ranking.

No matter what, it's like Bean said about Manu, "That's 1 bad #2 guard right there."

Good point. Up until Tony's injury, Manu was playing over 50% of his minutes next to Tony. With Tony back, Manu can play off the ball for the majority of minutes.

As most ppl have said its a three-horse race between Harden Wade and Kobe.. and you cant really get too mad about anyone ranking one above the other.. depends what you value more out of scoring.. defense.. ability to get to the line.. playoff history. IMO i would go

    1. Wade
    2. Kobe
    3. Harden

If Harden has a big playoff series and they win at least 2 games i could easily rank him No. 1. You cant really expect the Rockets to beat the Spurs or Thunder but if they get that 6 seed i can see the Rockets giving a team like the Nuggets some trouble.

In terms of PER Manu has a clear advantage over the rest of the SG's so he is probly 4th by default.

Whoever said Klay Thompson has a good shout. Also one could argue Curry plays SG at the end of games with Jarrett Jack handling the point.

Oops, must've not scrolled all the way down or something.

I don't think of Thompson as a particularly good defender (though neither do I of Martin).
Klay's on-ball defense has been very impressive to me. Coach Jackson put him on Parker in Oakland and he did a real fine job on TP. Off the ball, Klay has a lot to learn, yet...but his physical style and arm techniques in going over the top of screens is actually quite effective.

    Manu's PER: 19.77
    Iguodala's PER: 14.96

    Okay.

Still, I can see Andre's argument for being over Manu, but Manu is certainly solidified in the fourth or fifth SG spot at this point, tbh.

    Kobe #1? lmao, please.

    3: Kobe
    2: Harden
    1: Wade

I would rather have Wade or Harden on my team than Kobe. Harden will likely be above Wade in a year or two as well as Wade declines and Harden improves slightly. Back on topic though:

And I hate to say it, but Manu is lucky to still be #5. He's definitely declined. His play lately has been really awful. I can't think of any way to defend it unless he's hurt and we don't know it.

I'd consider DeMar DeRozan and Klay Thompson before I would Kevin Martin. Thompson is a much better defender. His problem is he is just still a bit green.
This. Thompson is a superstar in the making. He can already shoot, is a very good defender, athletic, can get to the rim and will keep getting better like Kawhi.

Iguodala guards Lebron, he is the SF.
Wow, that means Bruce Bowen was a power forward when the Spurs played the Mavericks and a point guard when the Spurs played the Suns.

Yeah that logic doesn't make since. Splitter may occasionally guard a PF but no one confuses him as being one.

You're crazy. He averages more points, assist, rebounds, better FG % and even a better 3 point % (42% which is pretty damn good) which is suppose to be Re forte....

So what this list says is that... there are only 3 vaguely decent SG in the league right now.

Manu gets respect because teams are scared of him.
We watch every game so we know he is not having his best moment. At the end, I would still choose him over most SG for the last quarter. Thats the reason he is that high on the list.

he's a poison and that's all there is to it. Red is a solid role player Mayo is one of those players you have to pray you never get to see with your team.

I mean I think you just hate him. How is he a poison? hes not jacking up 20 shots a game he shoots it 13 times a game JJ Re shoots it 11 times and they both average 2 turnovers a game. Hes not the same player he was on the Grizzlies, hes maturing and has a lot of upside.

Nothing really wrong with that list, but no JR Smith? At least over Re . I would even take Smith over Crawford and Kevin Martin.

Harden has been playing better than Kobe this season no doubt, but I just can't put him on top of him at this point. Probbaly next season.

    its

    Wade
    Kobe
    Harden.

A player can be washed up and old AND the 4th best SG in the league. Just means all the other SG really suck.
