I don't know what to expect. The Spurs should win easily, but as others have pointed out, they have very little to play for, while the Lakers are fighting for their playoff lives....and trying to prove they can do it without Kobe.

But, as Pop likes to say, these are grown men and professionals. If they can't get motivated to play a game, they don't deserve to win.

I want to the Spurs to win but I also want OKC to have a tougher time in the first round. Now without Kobe, the Lakers offense will be played through Pau and Dwight as it should have been all season tbh. They are a much scarier team than before.

For long term strategy purposes, it'd be smart to lose this game and win tomorrow's vs GS. Beating GS will more than likely move them to the 7th spot and they are a much more easier match-up for the Spurs. Steph Curry would likely chuck his team out and Tim would abuse their bigs. Regardless if we are matched up with Houston or GS, it's a great match-up for the purpose of getting our guys up and going. A fast paced tempo series should ignite the offense to where it was last season. We are going to need to be at last year's rhythm to beat Denver and challenge OKC.

Lakers are a far better team without Kobe. The only time the Lakers are good with Kobe is when that idiot passes the ball because he involves his TEAMMATES. You can't have two seven footers on your team and suck. Well........you can but I refuse to believe a team with Dwight Howard & Pau Gasol completely sucks. Either way, Kobe's injury is a blessing in disguise.........or maybe out in the open to people not sucking Kobe's .

Agree if it helps the Spurs have a matchup favor in the first round. It's all strategy and I have no problem with Spurs being smart about their path to the finals if it's a possibility. Not the first team to aim for a specific matchup and won't be the last team.

Like most, I'm leaning toward the notion that the Lakers will play better without Kobe. But who knows?

Will be interesting to see how this game plays out, and if the Spurs even give a .

The Lakers with Pau and Dwight should be fierce inside especially with minutes for Blair and Bonner. BUT the Lakers now have little outside shooting without Nash/Kobe. If our guys hit their jumpers we should make short work of them. If the jumpers aren't falling, this could be a real battle.

Kobe's absence will probably SPUR other guys to step up. I expect them to pound it in into DH and PG all night. Whoever guards PG needs follow him out of the low block to contest his damn good jumpers.

Ridiculous how transparent the NBA is about getting the Lakers in. I guess they really, really want those four losses on TV, even with no Kobe.

What makes you so sure the favoritism will stop after they get in?

It's gonna be the Ewing effect for this Lakers team tbh.

and CIA pop would tank this game, doubt it'll happen though

Whether the Thunder play the Lakers or Jazz is irrelevant tbh. OKC is running roughshod on either team.

I hope the Spurs win tonight solely for the fact that this Laker team missing the playoffs would be the biggest disappointment in sports history.
