prove to me that a prime Kobe was not the best scoring wing defender in the league...he may not have been a Bruce Bowen level defender but he was close...Kobe was a great defender for 80% of his career
There is only one DPOY and it will usually go to a big.

LeBron was more deserving than Kirby in '05-'06, tbh.... he "only" averaged 31.4 PPG compared to Kirby's 35.4, but had a better FG%, TS%, and eFG%, averaged more assists per game, had a better offensive and defensive rating, put up more win shares, and his team was better than Kirby's....
LeBron was my MVP that year too. Cavs had a 50 win season too. However Kobe, Dirk and Billups were are all better choices than Nash.

I can't think of a worse MVP decision in history than 05-06. Fat, white sportswriters were all living vicariously through Nash. Funny how Nash nowadays is showing us he's a true

Nash winning was nothing but a great white hope vote....but fact is Lebron played in a weaker conference with weaker defenders.

Do you not see how the point of accolades would deteriorate, then? Instead of it rewarding skill, it rewards popularity. What percent of fans, do you believe, actually appreciate and understand defense?
Isn't MVP a popularity award amongst Media voters?

You miscalculated...you should have him down for 4...

    Kobe
should have won MVPS in these seasons:

    2002-2003 - Avg 30 ppg 6.9 rebs 5 assts

    2005-2006 - Avg 35 ppg 5rebs 4 assts

    2006-2007 - Avg 31 ppg 6 rebs 4 assts

2007-2008 - Avg 28 ppg 5 rebs 5 assts - Only Time he won MVP

The one he actually won was a pity . You could make a case for other years but the year he won it the media gave in. He's lucky to have one. ing that white girl is unforgivable in America.

Even this past season shows what a complete joke the award is...

Kobe averaged 27 pts, 6 Rbs 6.0 Assists
Lebron averaged 26. pts, 8.0 Rbs and 7 assists

Kobe's numbers are right there with LeBron's, and yet he finished behind Kevin Durant, Carmelo Anthony and CP3. MVP voters are saying that CP3 avg 17. pts, 9 assists and 3 rebounds per game had a better year than Kobe Bryant..the Lakers as team had they're worst season ever and the Clippers had their best season ever and it still resulted in only a first round exit for the Clippers...and yet I'm supposed to take MVP voting seriously?

please....Like I said...might as well let the fans vote

When your $120 million preseason favorite plays like absolute and your team has a losing record when you score at least 30 points, you're not getting MVP, tbh...

Let it go, Kool. It was the one thing the media could use to protect Jordan from Kobe's wrath.

Jeremy Lin....Yao Ming....those are the reasons we don't let fans decide the MVP...quit being stupid. Fans can only vote on what they can see. National media outlets only cover the teams they want to for most of the year. It'd be a Laker, Heat, or Knick every year.

Yes, but the media is full of basketball idiots while fans are, in general, simply idiots.
