Like you would have Dmonkey Jordan over these two.

That's one side of the ball son. He is a great anchor and a much better offensive weapon than those numbers suggest.
BTW, in the playoffs against the champs (the barometer for which all teams will be measured), the Pacers finally figured out how to use him:
Game 1: 19 points (9-18 FGAs); 9 rebs; 2 swats
Game 2: 29 points (10-15 FGAs); 10 rebs
Game 3: 20 points (4-12 FGAs, 12-15 FTAs); 17 rebs; 2 swats
Game 4: 23 points (10-16 FGAs); 12 rebs
Game 5: 22 points (8-14 FGAs); 6 rebs; 2 swats
Game 6: 24 points (11-20 FGAs); 11 rebs; 1 swat (elimination game)
Game 7: 18 points (7-11 FGAs); 8 rebs
Totals: 22 ppg (on 55.6%), 9 rebs; 1 bpg. Source
Not to mention his size (pause, for you gots) must be accounted for on both sides of the court. Miami (back to back champs) had issues with him all series. If their guards were competent, his above numbers would e. You think that it is a mere coincidence that they are going after Oden? Like I said, I'd take him over Howard in a heartbeat. The one bad game he had shooting wise (game 3) he hit 80% of his FTAs. Howard can only dream of that. We'll agree to disagree.
I don't think one playoff series is enough. Good starting point, but Howard is heads and shoulders above him over the course of a season
hibbert is fkn good, he needs more touches though...dont like it how PG loves to dribble down the court and pull up without any hesitation cause theres not a shot he wouldnt take....
Hibbert is already playing at a similar level to DH and he's still improving, while DH is declining. Hibbert is a better team player and he was one of the main reasons why the pacers could make the conference finals last season and managed drag the Heat to 7 games. It would've been a hard choice between DH and Cousins who also has a bag personality just like DH, but choosing Hibert over the washed-up Dwight is a no-brainer imho.
The Pacers were close to beating the Heat just as the Spurs were. The Lakers, not so much.
Never been high on Hibbert, but Dwight just isn't really interested in basketball, tbh... so by default Roy it is.
Sure. I'm the only Laker fan on this board that wanted him back, too.
finally figured ur iden y out
makes sense with the mavs monicker and the german avatar. misses dirk/mavs
Its Dwight. Talk to me if Hibbert can lead Turkoglu and Jameer to the Finals.
give me the guy that actually has a post game and attempts to block shots
the other just camps and most of his blocks are fkn goal tending
Nelson was injured while Howard was busy curb-stomping James on his own. Then, when his teammates started to decline, Howard put up 23&14 on 59% shooting, including 48 in a ing playoff game. S. Van Gundy is right, 30 out of 30 GMs would take Dwight Howard.
NBA fans follow the "what have you done for me lately?" reasoning more than any other sports fans, tbh..
Howard had a great 2nd half of the season with an incompetent coach and a cancerous player taking most of the shots on the team, but fans remember the media narrative(mostly to protect Kobe, obviously), along with the Spurs sweep of the Lakers' D-League squad, tbh..fans also remember Hibbert having a dominant series against a team with no frontcourt and poor coaching..once Miami finally began fronting and swarming Hibbert(Spoelstra couldn't figure it out until game 7), he looked rather pedestrian, tbh..
I'll take the one who led his team to the Finals this year
so..
Much obliged.
As horribly as Howard perceivably played last year, he had a WS of 7.6, and ws/48 of .134.
Roy Hibbert, with pretty much a career year, had 6.1 and .129.
Given that Dwight will actually be getting passes in the low post this year, I am guessing his OWS will go back somewhere closer to his Orlando days than the LAL days, adding another 1 or 2 WS. His defense will likely stay the same, because frankly, McHale is not much better of a defensive coach than MDT.
However, we have to put some caveats here, Howard is an alpha talent, Hibbert is a role player. WS for role players don't really compare that well amongst each other because if a player excels in his role, he will have a high WS. We saw that will Laimbeer, and to an extent Billups in their careers. Players like Howard can have teams and system built around him, so his winshares reflect his true value to a team.
One more thing, people look at Hibbert against Miami and thinks he is some kind of God. Let's face it, Miami can defend big man for a couple of short spurts because of their speed and athleticism, but can't do it consistently due to lack of size. Hibbert scored at least 18 points a game in every single game vs. Miami last year in the playoffs. He had two other games in the entire playoffs. Rebounding tells a similar story.
And Hibbert was not an aberation, Duncan, at 37 years old, had his playoff high of 30/17 in game 7, and also another 20/10 game in the same series. He had only one other 20/10 in the entire playoffs.
D12 is about 10x the talent of Hibbert. I admire Hibbert's heart and work ethic, but at of now, D12 is about a mile ahead in terms of talent, there really isn't any serious comparisons.
Of course I'd take both over DeContract, but that's irrelevant to the thread....
