Are we playing with hand checking, zone d, 3 seconds?

Also how did splitter show up on this team?

Also is team B's secret weapon having Robinson in his prime constantly stop and apologize to splitter? "I'm sorry tiago, I didn't realize blocking your pseudo hook with my collarbone and knocking you down through the ball was even possible. I sorta thought I would have to jump to block your shot since you are about 6'11"."

Completely untrue. Duncan was never as good as peak David...
I don't know peak Duncan has better range, better passing, and better positioning on defense.

DRob was an explosive athlete, but prime Duncan was deceptively fast not an explsove leaper but quick.

In a bunch of ways drob was a stronger Garnett without as good of a jumper, or maybe the world just wasn't ready for a face up center.

    ????

Robinson's jumper (with his unique high release above his head) was money. He consistently hit 15-17 ft jumpers....

Put Manu in for Vinnie, and swap AJ with Strickland - then you might have a game.

But why are we talking about this? The playoffs START next week. This is an August thread.

I think a lot of folks here don't remember Robinson in his prime.

It'd be illegal what a prime D-Rob would do to my Golden God Tiago tbh.

Team A. They're dangerous from every position, whereas Team B would have to be carried by Timmy and Gervin.

Holy , the amount of destruction that David Robinson would do to Tiago. Possible jail time after and .
    LMAO

And that's with stronger defenses in an era with other great centers (Hakeem, Ewing, Shaq, Mourning, etc...) Before the restricted arc was introduced (in 1997 IIRC)...

I don't buy it. Dave had more impressive stats, but Tim was the better player. I would absolutely take 03 Tim > 94 Dave. In this case, the stats really don't tell the whole story. One could probably rationalize it with reference to the playing styles, different offenses, different compe ion, etc...but even aside from all that, I think Tim was better regardless. It could be that I prefer traditional low-post/rebounding centers, but that is a winning formula, clearly.

I didn't follow the spurs until Leonard and didn't really follow much basketball before that. And i am not sure if i am understanding you right? You would take team B, or Team B has the plsyer you are talking about? I was taking it the first way so assumed you were talking about parker or DRob.

Yes, I would take Team B any day of the week and twice on Sundays...and I have nothing against Parker...he's a 3x champ, a Finals MVP, and has been their team MVP since the 2007 Finals

Robinson WAS a rebounding center (despite the fact he had to share rebounding role with a master rebounder in Dennis Rodman)... as for his sub-Duncan back-to-the-basket game, well that only works if you're surrounded by great shooters... clutch shooters when it matters most... Duncan has been fortunate to have great shooting casts his entire career... Robinson's Spurs, despite their gaudy RS records, never had that consistency from the perimeter... so the thing missing from your list is "different teamates" - because they most certainly matter...

I gotta say Team A, because Avery, Vinnie, and Thiago can't guard Tony, Luck_the_Fakers_Luck_the_Fakers_Luck_the_Fakers_Lu ck_the_Fakers_Luck_the_Fakers_, and Horry (and definitely not Robinson). Robinson couldn't stop Hakeem, but he could have with some help defense from a bunch of all stars. I'm afraid this game would be a blowout once Kiwi shuts down Ice.
