Realistically, the best the Spurs could probably do would be the same money for one less year.

    Where's the savings?

Rasho makes 6,72 millons this season. Bull's qualifying offer for Curry is of 5,14 millons.

Chicago is over the cap this total value does not include qualifying offers. So add Chandlers $10mil plus contract and Currys $5.139mil min and their team salary is over $49.5 million.

And? That doesn't mean that's what he's looking for.

There could be some kind of three way trade that could work, but I don't think the Spurs would want anything to do with Curry himself.

Did the Spurs want anything to do with Ron Mercer originally?

Curry for Rasho would address the primary concern of Holt Cat at this moment and the Spurs have shown that they will do whatever it takes when Holt Cat's precious $s are threatened.

That would be true if Curry agreed to a one year deal. I don't see that happening.

Now, if we could swing something stupid like:

    Rasho to Bulls
    Curry to Lakers
    ghost of Divac to Spurs

Then you would be in business.

I don't see Curry drawing that much interest. The Spurs seem desperate to jettison Radoslav in order to meet the budgetary constraints imposed by Holt Cat. Taking on a never was like Curry for a season is definitely not out of the realm of possibilities for the Spurs.

    How much?

    For how long?

The only reason Curry would want to explore a sign and trade is for more money and more years.

The Spurs can make him think they want him long term (ie Anderson, Derek).

Two years at most, make a substantial part of the 2nd year non-guaranteed. In the end it would save the Spurs a fair amount of change, all things considered.

You do realize that Curry thinks he is a 6 year- $70M contract guy? He wants what Chandler got for his 0.92 blocks per game. If all he gets is a one-year deal, he can just sign the qualifying offer.
Given Curry's risky medical condition, I can't see how he could expect any team to s out a long term commitment to him.

In addition to his bad heart, many teams think the guy actually HAS no heart. He should temper his expectations - at least for this season anyway.

We were locked into what we could pay for DA the first year. No such restrictions with Curry.

That's probably what the Bulls want to do.

He either gets a multiyear guaranteed deal or he takes the qualifying offer.

The limitation comes from his market value, which is capped due to his health.

Unless they find Radoslav more appealing than a Curry who may never play again.

If he's amenable and the Bulls are willing, the Spurs would definitely consumate such a deal.

    So he takes the QO.

The first part is the biggest hurdle. Chances are he's going to cost more than would be practical.

Curry has to agree to any sign-and-trade. It is not a matter of what the Bulls or Spurs may want. Curry ONLY wants it to get more money and more years. He would have absolutely no reason to agree to come to the Spurs for one year at the qualifying offer amount.

Would Holt Cat pay $6 mil today to an unusable player to make $23 mil+ tomorrow due an unused player go away? I think so.

Just what we need, a walking time bomb who at best could get in Tim's way on offense, play no D and fail to break 1 block per game or 10 boards per 48 despite being 7ft, 300lbs.
I agree with Chump here... Curry is horrid. For his size, he is an increadible bad rebounder... and his baskeball IQ is -75... the guy is clueless. I would pass on him.

Example of Curry's work ethic: Sometimes he reportedly gets in trouble for eating sandwiches DURING practice.

Hey, as long as he can sign a contract that ends by 2007 for $10 mil or less he'd be "coachable" now...

Let's not forget that the Spurs wanted to give away Radoslav for the rotting corpse of TAW's career a month ago.

The sad thing is, some Spurs fans out there will hail a Rasho for Curry swap as being a steal, just so that they wouldn ot have to criticize their lord, their savior, HC himself.

    WWHD?

So can the Bulls -- and all things being equal contract-wise, one would think he'd stay there.

The first part was Curry and his agent, not Holt.

Sure, but Holt Cat can improve the offer to make Curry and his agent amenable to making the journey south.

If the Bulls won't commit today, when will they?

That would take alot of improving.

They don't have to -- all they have to do is wait for him to take the QO.

I simply think that any offer that would actually interest Curry would pretty much equal or more likely surpass Rasho's current deal. Higher than he'd probably get in the open market? Sure, but that didn't stop Swift either.

    Yeah, that's great <sarcasm>

Let's trade a center who is defensively better than 85-90% of the centers in the NBA, who is healthy and reliable, and who has proven that when it is needed of him, he can step up and provide offense (such as when Tim is out of the game) as well.

I mean, hey, a center who MAY or MAY NOT succeed with the Spurs in his first full season with the team (Nazr) and a center with such serious heart problems insurance companies won't cover him ought to be enough, right? Oh, and an undersized unproven foreigner who's never played in the NBA, who may be better suited to PF (Fabri). Yeah, right. You are all smoking crack.

Rasho stays put, until and IF Nazr proves to be better and Rasho proves to be expendable. And that's a big if.
