Curry seeking sign-and-trade
Source: Agent has asked Bulls about it

Eddy Curry's agent has asked the Bulls to consider a sign-and-trade for the restricted free agent, a source familiar with the negotiations confirmed Tuesday.
Curry's agent, Leon Rose, did not respond to a message, and Bulls general manager John Paxson declined to confirm or deny the request. But Paxson acknowledged the parties are nowhere near reaching an agreement.
"We're not anywhere close to having anything done," Paxson said.
The workings of a sign-and-trade tend to be complicated. Last summer, after 34 days of negotiations, the Bulls and Knicks agreed to a sign-and-trade that sent Jamal Crawford to New York. The upside was the financial relief the Bulls received in salary-cap room.
Curry seems an unlikely candidate for a sign-and-trade, mainly because his heart condition makes such a scenario even more complex than usual.
Two months ago the league informed the Bulls that Curry's condition would be excluded from disability coverage by its insurance carrier, and since then Rose has been unable to secure a policy for the former Thornwood High star.
Without insurance, the Bulls will not make a long-term contract offer, leaving the parties at an impasse, though Paxson said talks remain amicable.
"There's nothing negative," he said.
Nevertheless, he doesn't have any meetings scheduled with Rose this week and an Oct. 1 deadline is looming. If Curry does not have a contract in place by then, and if he does not have an offer sheet from another team, his only option is to play for the Bulls' qualifying offer of $5.14 million. The latter appears most likely at this point.
Before they make a long-term commitment to Curry, Bulls officials want to see how the condition detected last spring affects his play. If he can play one season without incident, an insurance company is more likely to drop exclusions for 2006-07.
Curry has an enlarged heart and an irregular heartbeat, which forced him to miss the season's final 13 games and the playoffs. Prominent heart specialists the Bulls consulted did not clear Curry to play, but he sought the opinion of a respected cardiologist in Los Angeles and received clearance.
If he plays with the qualifying offer, Curry would need to play with the kind of intensity players exhibit during contract years to command mega-millions next summer as an unrestricted free agent—assuming his health would allow it.
While the Bulls could make the most generous contract offer next year, they run a risk of alienating the 22-year-old center. He could spurn the Bulls if he believes they slighted him.
A sign-and-trade would give the Bulls something in return, but as long as his heart issues continue to haunt Curry and the Bulls, his value diminishes.
Meanwhile, questions continue to surface about Curry's weight and whether he's in shape. Earlier this summer he said he wasn't playing full-court because he didn't want to risk an injury while negotiating a contract. He has been drilling and lifting weights under the guidance of Tim Grover, Michael Jordan's former trainer.

Yeah you were one minute too late.![]()
trade rasho/any other scrub with fugly contracts for curry/1 year deal at the salary combined, give him only 1 year to see how he goes if he does crap show him the door.
He wants a sign and trade because he wants more than a one-year deal.
With the insurance issue, I don't think he'll get a long-term contract from anyone. His best bet is just to stay with Chicago for one year.
We should offer Rasho in a sign and trade for curry with a contract of 5 millons each year for the next 3 years.
This way we would free out 1,7 millons for this season and get rid of the rest of Nesterovic's contract especially his huge 4th year.
Moreover, by this we might be able to re-sign Brown.
And about Curry's heart problem, well, if he comes to San Antonio he wouldn't see more than 20 minutes per night so he wouldn't get so damaged.
I said 3 years of length because that way he would agree besides it is better for the spurs to have Curry for 3 years with 15 millons than Rasho for 4 years with more than 30 millons.
How the would you conclude that 20 minutes a night won't hurt him? He could have heart problems just from walking across the street. Insurance won't cover him. The Spurs aren't going to give a guy a 3-year-deal who's health is so much in question that they can't get insurance. And about Curry's heart problem, well, if he comes to San Antonio he wouldn't see more than 20 minutes per night so he wouldn't get so damaged.
If Chicago would take back Radoslav in a sign and trade I would not be surprised to see the Spurs interested in Curry.
Still Curry for Nesterovic is a risk i would take. Again, even if he can only play 20 games in season 2 and 3 it would be better than giving 30 millons in 4 years to Rasho.
I can understand the insurances situation as the contract would be pretty significant if Curry signs for more than one season with the bulls.
by the way, i said that 20 minutes per night in San Antonio wouldn't hurt compared to what he would be asked for in Chicago that would be much more than that.
For one year, I might be able to see it. For a 3-year deal? I don't think so.
The Spurs would not give Curry a 3 year deal. But if the Bulls wanted Radoslav I'm sure the Spurs could come up with a sensible deal for Curry, which most likely would contain a significant nonguaranteed component.
Just what we need, a walking time bomb who at best could get in Tim's way on offense, play no D and fail to break 1 block per game or 10 boards per 48 despite being 7ft, 300lbs.
...but he'd save Holt Cat some serious $, so that would make a bad basketball decision a good one, according to Spurs fans.
If we did a trade woudn't we have to take some other players from chicago for the salaries to even out? or is it based only on the current years salary?
If chicago is under the cap so in a sign and trade they should be able to get a contract like the one of Rasho.
They are under the cap.

I bet timvp's lusting for a sign-and-trade to the Spurs.
Eddy Curry is to him as Brent Barry is to whottt.

I´ve never trade Rasho for a player than nobody knows if can die on the floor, I know Curry is far better but...
in 3 years Rasho will still be on the court but just for stealing money with his salary. At least, in a team like San Antonio.
If he goes to Chicago he could improve his numbers a lot.
Actually, we have found a NBA center for whom Radoslav is his superior.
You do realize that Curry thinks he is a 6 year- $70M contract guy? He wants what Chandler got for his 0.92 blocks per game. If all he gets is a one-year deal, he can just sign the qualifying offer.
It doesn't matter what Curry thinks he is. What matters is that the Bulls would be willing to take back Radosoft for him. Right now Curry isn't going to get anything close to a long term deal in free agency.
The Spurs would take him on just to get rid of Radosoft's contract and then drop Curry at the 1st available opportunity.
Ok but I don´t know how much money can the Spurs save if they trade Rasho for Curry ...
As an example if we give him a 3 years deal with 5 millons for each year we would be saving 1,7 millons for this season compared to Rasho and in total 15 millons.
Rasho's contract has 4 years at a value around 30 millons.
