Cleveland should absolutely be favorites. Playing in the East is such a huge advantage when it comes to getting to the Finals. I think GS having equal/better odds than us is pretty reasonable as well. They just won 67 games and the le, and now they've brought everyone back. They'll likely have some internal improvement due to having a young core + added year of chemistry, and Kerr will have another year under his belt as well.

Makes total sense. The Warriors return every bit of their championship roster. And the Cavs might have actually won it all if they were healthy. The Spurs are compe ive on paper, but the roster is unproven.

And it's not like we're a lock for the Finals or anything. I mean I've learned not to question whether Duncan will decline and he's earned that right, but he is going to be 40 by the time playoffs roll around. Manu had the worst season of his career last year and now he'll be another year older. Parker (who just came off an absolutely terrible season) and Diaw will both be 34 around playoff time.

On the flip side, we added a top 15 player in Aldridge. Kawhi is only 24 and will hopefully build upon his breakout season last year. Green is coming off a career season and has shown signs he might not be done improving as a player. West could end up being a great role player. Boban could be a nice addition too. And I refuse to believe Parker will have as bad of a season as he did last year. I know his days of being an elite PG are over, but I still think he can make a positive impact in a smaller role.

tl;dr: I don't blame someone for not completely buying into us being le favorites...especially when we haven't even seen the team play yet. Cleveland and GS are just safer bets at this point. That could very well change by the time April rolls around, though.

    Have you seen their roster?

    Dragic, Chalmers, Napier
    Wade, Green
    Deng, Winslow
    Bosh, McRoberts
    Whiteside, Anderson

    (Feel like I'm forgetting someone)

Very solid all around. Championship pedigree. I like them over the other East teams that aren't Cleveland. If they get to the playoffs healthy, they can make some noise.
    Amare, Haslem, Walker.

Not bad, will surely be back in the playoffs.

I also really don't see anyone seriously threatening Cleveland. I guess a healthy Miami/Chicago would have the best bet, but I sure as wouldn't put my faith in either one of them to get the job done. I'd be pretty damn shocked if Cleveland isn't back in the Finals this year.

Playing in the East has its advantages and disadvantages. The advantage is that you come to finals rested and will less injuries. The disadvantage is that you aren't prepared for the compe ion.

Spurs had to be shocked by the Mavs in the first round to get themselves with the right mindset. Think about what could have happened, they could have lost a game 7 against the Mavs that would have been devastating right after losing the championship. Glad they survived!

It is because we play in the West. The Cavaliers will end up in the finals by default basically. Can't say the same for the Warriors, Spurs Thunder, etc.

As others have stated, it's easy for Cleveland to be at the top b/c of their conference. LeBron doesn't have the balls to be in the West so that prick is always on the favorite to win it all. To have the Spurs be tied with GS only shows how highly respected they are by the odds makers.

Anyone who complains about them not being the favorites simply doesn't get it.

The odds make are saying that it is 50/50 that the either the Warriors and Spurs come out of the West.

Then it is 50/50 between whoever wins the WCF and the Cavaliers.

I don't these odds are going to change unless it is obvious that the Spurs are so much more superior over the Warriors.

OKC in not the same category as Warriors and Spurs despite having probably the best starting 5. The bench depth is suspect.

Pop would hate it if this team were the odds on pre-season favorite. This is perfect....lot's of work to do, maintain appropriate fear, pound the rock and see what is happening come April-June.

Spurs are never Vegas favorites and we've never repeated. Where was the appropriate fear on those occasions?

The odds have continued to move in the Spurs direction. Bovada still has the Cavs at 11-4, but has the Spurs at 3-1, the Warriors at 11-2, the Thunder at 17-2, and the Clippers back down to 10-1.

We have to have many more things go well compared to the Cavs...

    Parker must improve.
Timmy must re perform an incredible season at 40
Aldridge a really good ISO man must be integrated
KL and Danny must be more consistent.

If I had to pick the winner or face death, would have to be the Cavs. What they did without Love and Irving in the East playoffs was very telling. They cake walked into the finals.

Until Aldridge takes over the reigns of the team. If that happens. We are still a team without a superstar.

That or Porker has to be back in form. Two huge ifs.

actually playing without love helps the cavs. Playing with that piece of is what hurts them.

The thunder do have a different head coach now. Brooks by all measures, was absolutely horrible. Most bball minds thought he was really holding that ream back, despite them winning a lot of games.
