Agree. It's a problem. I think even fans who are neutral towards him are starting to consider that we are really not championship contenders so long as he's starting.
He had a few elite skills: his quickness, stamina and aggressiveness getting in the paint and scoring efficiently. Without the first two things which aging has taken, the third is useless as he can't be consistent and he doesn't bring enough of the other things. I don't like to hate on Tony since he's not the only aged guard that Pop over-relies on however.
It really should be on others more at this point, but it will take some youngsters forcing themselves into the scene with their talent like Kawhi did for Pop to move on. I think Dijon has that personality and talent but he's a kid right know literally, and raw. Kyle OTOH is the most Spursy guy Spurs could have drafted ever. He will only push when Pop asks him to push. If he's asked to be 10th fiddle in the team when he could do more that's what he'll do. It's on Pop and his process at this point. Hopefully these young guys grow up through the season and next off-season Pop and RC go after a FA but I almost feel like they won't bc just resigning guys already in this squad will eat up cap.
I feel like it will really take some internal growth by younger guys at this point to push the Spurs forward further the same way Kawhi did at one point. Maybe Gasol helps this season but they will need Anderson in the bench to grow up this season too and one of Simmons or Bertans to help too.
