It makes a lot of sense for him to not play at the moment anyway, gives Rasho confidence and a chance to fight for his minutes.
Secondly who the are you to question it? there are some insensitive people this is almost as insensitive as calling Big Dog out for not playing when his mum died.

One other thing I noticed occurred when the players came out to warm up. It was obviously the first time they had been on their home court in front of their home crowd since Game 7. I noticed some of them looking around a bit, almost waxing nostalgic. You could tell they were happy to be home again.
The other thing I noticed is that the banner area has maxed out. They have a space ready for the new championship banner, but they are officially out of room on that side after that. It would make sense to keep the championship banners and the black conference banners together, so I wonder if they are going to move the retired jerseys to the adjacent side.
And that's saying something.

It was truly sick and really got the crowd going. You could tell Manu was having some fun. "Dude, let's do this now 'cause Pop will kick my ass if I do it during the regular season."
I didn't get to go to the game but I did hear the majority of the radio PBP while multi-tasking last night. PJ Carlesimo said in the pre-game interview with Bill S. that the Spurs were going to practice their zone for this game.
Schoening repeatedly commented throughout the game, particularly the 1st half, that the Spurs were zoning and McGrady was more than happy to shoot over the zone. Bill didn't say whether it was a 2-3 matchup or not but I suspect if it looked like Finley was defending T-Mac, that may have been when they were in "man", or who he matched with in transition.
They were only playing zone on about 40% of the possessions. Got to go to the game unexpectedly last night. TMac was TMac...absolutely sick. And if Bowen was on him, Bruce could've held him to 19 in 18 minutes rather than 21 in 18.
I love Bruce, but I gotta call it as it really is. TMac is one of the very, very few (perhaps the only) players, that Bruce doesn't frustrate much at all, either phyically or mentally. The guy is just sick, that's all. Sure would look good in silver and black, no?
Thanks, Kori. T-Mac has a way of lighting up whoever is defending him. If Finley was the guy when they were in "man" it's understandable why T-Mac scored the first 11 Rockets points.
During the season, the Spurs never come close to running zone even 10% of the time. In the Finals, Game 7 they used it some in the 2nd and 3rd periods but probably only 7 trips total.
Tracy is about all Houston has, unless Yao stops being overrated. I was expecting Tracy to beat Dallas in the playoffs pretty much by himself, since the games were pretty close, a few late shots would have done it, but he mostly choked. A huge, entertaining, dangerous talent, like Vince Carter, but so far not a winner.
Heard some of the coach's comments on post game radio.
He was talking about how the Spurs were trying different things, looks, and players, etc. But he managed to slip in a comment about how the Rockets wanted to make a statement in this game.
To anyone not there, it was simply preseason with both teams using different rotations. Lots of scrubs throughout the game, regardless of situation. This game meant nothing except to Pop, JVG and their assessments(plus the scrubs they're assessing).
Aww! Me too! My friends were teasing me because I wanted to see all the guys, the court, the coyote, everything! I felt like a little kid at Christmas.

Beno looked very comfortable out there with the exception of getting his shorts pulled down by a Moochie steal late and a couple of passes to the stands.
Nick was sleepwalking out there, but he does spread the ball around -- defintiely knows where Finley likes the ball and looks like he's learning about the others too.
Tony would've gotten a triple-double had he played his regular minutes, but his jumper still looks like ass.
Rasho was pretty aggro out there, so much that it got him into foul trouble. He showed very hard on pick and rolls and had to run his ass off to get back in the post when no one rotated to cover his man. One off the better ball-movement sequences was keyed when Rasho backed Houston down into a double team under the basket and whipped the ball out to NVE around the horn to I believe Manu for a three.
Yes, Ford has sub-Rasho form at the line, but his meager stat line doesn't show the kind of impact he had on the game. He was very involved on both ends of the floor causing deflections, a steal here, a block there. Keyed a couple of mini-runs, had a dunk stifled by cookie monster that would've ended the half well. Even though he'll be limited by his size (small frame, doesn't seem he could ever get much over 230), he will find a place in the league soon enough. Might as well be here.
Graham played a surprising amount of minutes. I agree he's not ready, but he didn't make too many mistakes, has good transition instincts and is overflowing with athleticism. A year or two in the D-League and he could make it.
Finley looked like he was getting the flow of the offense though he took a couple of ill-advised shots. He does give effort on D --it really didn't matter against TMac -- but I remember a sequence where he chased Wesley through and around multiple screens to bother his shot. He's trying, so I can't complain.
Marks looked good again. He's supremely confident with his shot and has no hesitation putting it up. Had one dunk on a textbook upfake that Nazr should watch on a video loop for two hours, and another on a sick alley-oop from Manu that was the highlight of the evening. His D is still spotty (better suited for the weakside, nice timing on blocks for the game though) and his rebounding numbers don't match his effort (mostly put into jumping and not positioning). I think with the new inactive list rules, Marks could be a key to preserving Horry during the season while keeping the offensive spacing Rob brings to the table.
Houston can really move the ball now -- they can field lineups with good passers 1-5. The emergence of Head (ha) and the Moochie's finding his game again will make for a pretty deep point corps. DA owned Sanders, who seemed a little distracted trying to read the offenses and deciding where to be -- DA drew two fouls running by Sanders while he was looking toward the weakside. The refs and Spurs have bitten into the hype surrounding Stromile. Both paid him too much respect.
JVG called time the second the Spurs pulled out the zone, then TMac prompty busted it every conceivable way.
Parker fouled Wesley during halftime shootaround.
The Express-News flying blunt dropped none of it's precious cargo of Spurs wristbands before it crashed into our section a la Black Sunday. Oh, the humanity.
The halftime "All-Star" entertainment proved the statistic that 1/3 of all American teen and preteen dancers are overweight. Fortunately the fat, uncoordinated chicks were overshadowed by the supremely fit male dancer, who hadn't lost a step since his run as Jonathan on "Who's the Boss."
Stan Kelly sounds like he's over his bout with bronchitis or whatever made him sound like an old woman with emphysema during the finals.

My comments about Nazr have to do with the fact that he has been away from the team for an entire week and is not even in San Antonio. I know he had a baby, but most men don't get to take an entire week off work when a child is born. It is time for him to get back to basketball. He has ALOT to learn and looked very poor in the scrimmage in the VI and against Miami. And please, for anyone who has lost a parent, don't compare this to the DEATH of someone. If he wants to be around his baby, she should have had it here. They can surely afford to fly in all the famiy to SA to help that they want. And for the record, I HAVE A CHILD. He was born on a Sunday night at 9:00 PM and his father was at work the next day.
I swear there were possessions when 3 guys on Houston touched the ball and Rasho ran around covering all three of them
