Someone else on the team has to be able to hit a shot when he passes them the ball.

it's hard for him to get assists when Green, ginobli aldridge, and Mills are bricking wide open shots. Its hard for him to get rebounds when he's guarding the best player on the other team and forces them into bad jumpers. this is the 3 point era. Kawhi isn't hid on defense and he doesn't sit and wait for a miss to grab the rebound. He's the one causing the misses.

He's been focusing on being a great scorer. Playmaking is the next step in his evolution. He'll get one next season imo.
If his usage continues to go up, it's just a matter of time.
Barring a trade, the Spurs lack a legit NBA PG. So, Kawhi's usage will continue its upward trend, and he will definitely have to increase his vision/playmaking skill for the Spurs to be true contenders. His first triple double is coming very soon.

Wow, I was at that game and didn't realize Tony had a triple double. The things I remember most from that game were the strong Spurs fan contingent and Asik's bull 15-foot bank shot to force OT.

When was the last time Pop allowed any of his players to get a triple double? Duncan in 2003 probably.
Parker: 27/12/12 vs Houston tbh (2012)

Got kind of close against Minnesota too: 55/10/7

Not sure why this is so shocking. He plays less minutes, so he gets less time with the ball in his hand. Plus while he has become more ball dominant, the Spurs do have offense that doesn't just run through Kawhi, unlike Westbrook, who played a ton of minutes and had the ball in his hands constantly.

Spurs fans being led by media into the triple double scam, now thinking it needs to happen. Westbrook really did a number on yall.

I don't care one way or the other really. I'm not mad or sad. Just a little surprised with his rebounding ability and how much he gets the ball that it didn't happen at some point or another in his recent alpha role. That's all

Lets not forget that most players that get triple doubles are primary ball handlers, like LBJ, Russ W., to name a few.... KL till last season really wasn't even the 1st option on offense and the ball is primarily controlled by Tp so how is the man suppose to get a Triple.

I remember game after game keeping up with his stats and when he had a 5 assist half or something these ers would just start missing open looks.

This isn't a troll thread and you can lock it if you'd like but the "dabom is a " thread is still alive and kicking so I'm feeling confident. Seriously, correct me if he has had one but with his all-around skill set, I'm very surprised he hasn't. Granted getting a triple double is usually a conscious thing that a player strives for in a game (don't even tell me ol' Russy gets them without trying). For rizzy, I don't get it. Anybody think he'll get one this year?
Good thread. I've seen Dr. Dray notch a few triple dubs already...to go with his 2 rangs, and DPOY. Dr. Dray is a bad dude.

No different than manus 48 points coming in a OT game, hard to have big counting stats in low minutes. Anyone who has followed the Spurs during the big 3 Era knows that pops minutes rotation, pace and team style of play made /makes it very difficult for our guys to have gaudy stats. The point isn't to belittle Tony, the point is that our guys rarely play those kind of minutes.

Westbrook actually has a good amount of 30 minutes or less triple doubles, that can happen when you are an elite rebounding pg playing with a scoring champ. The majority though are a product of high minutes, usage, pace, and selfishness, all things pop avoids.

He's not an amazing passer, so it would take a very special game for him to get 10 assists. He's never had more than 7 in a game.
