This isn't a troll thread and you can lock it if you'd like but the "dabom is a " thread is still alive and kicking so I'm feeling confident. Seriously, correct me if he has had one but with his all-around skill set, I'm very surprised he hasn't. Granted getting a triple double is usually a conscious thing that a player strives for in a game (don't even tell me ol' Russy gets them without trying). For rizzy, I don't get it. Anybody think he'll get one this year?

    He's not a natural passer
10 steals is a lot, and blocks as well
    limited minutes

Bull if green and mills hit half of the great looks he gets them he'd have 20 already.

Maybe so, but he still is not a naturally gifted passer. If he could pass like Manu or Diaw, then he'd have a much better chance

"Great looks" is the LAST thing I associate with Kawhi Leonard. He's arguably the 2nd best player in the league but his passing ability and court vision leave much to be desired. If Lebron's vision and passing are a 10/10 Kawhi's are a 6/10 at best. Direct passes out of double teams are among the least efficient passes in the game in terms of generating open looks. The most efficient passes (not surprisingly) are the trickier ones that come with a lot of off ball movement with screens/back cuts/etc. Although the Spurs no longer have the personnel to generate that kind of ball movement, Kawhi hasn't shown that he'd even be capable of living up to that kind of challenge.

He's not a natural passer/play maker(although he's made strides in that department), along with limited minutes.. KD, who's a better playmaker/passer, only has 8 in his 10 year career, two coming last season playing with an all star team. Guys like Russ and LeBron make it look easier than it is.

Developing a genuinely high feel for the passing game is really the only factor keeping Kawhi from being the best player in the league right now. Thankfully as others have mentioned he has been making strides. Slow strides, but it's progress nonetheless.

He's been focusing on being a great scorer. Playmaking is the next step in his evolution. He'll get one next season imo.

Kawhi's game is way more efficient than the other triple double chasers. If Kawhi is on pace for one, we are probably up by 20 so pop will sit him. Blame pop for not wanting to run up the score like other coaches in the league.

He's been close a few times but those games iirc were blowouts so no need to push and risk injury

    "30 points- 10 rebouns -5 blocks (5 steals) " is more valuable than "30 points 10 rebounds 10 assists"

    i think.

Let's not forget the Spurs system isn't conducive to high individual assist numbers because of the extra passing. Team will always be high in team assists but much more balanced across the roster.

His rebound numbers are super impressive considering how often he's guarding the best offensive player or ball. Not exactly able to pull a Westbrook and steal boards.

Because Pop only gave him the keys to the Caddy 15 minutes ago and in that short time Kawa is bossing the league as it is.

The triple double is the most overrated stat that exists. People who get them regularly touch the ball too much. Getting an assist just means you were the last person who had the ball before the guy who got the score. In a system that espouses ball movement, that's not going to be double digits often. In a system like Houston or OKC, that will be every night since they play a one man game or a two man game, but rarely if ever a 5 man game.

However look at team assists, those are what matters.

If his usage continues to go up, it's just a matter of time.
