we got the MLE, that's 9.1 million if I'm not mistaken. I'd suggest to use it completely to get one of the better SFs who can be a starter. Otherwise you split it on 2 players
Oubre,Terrence Ross (no D), Hezonja, Sefolosha, Alec Burks, Caldwell-Pope
I know, but there are so many available that it shouldn't be a problem to grab one. My top choice would be Marcus Morris, but I think teams will overpay him. Ariza might not get that type of money anymore due to his age. Carroll I think is realistic, given his age and his last contract 9.1 million should be his range. Plus he played with DeMar on the Raptors. Other than that I could see the Spurs go after Stanley Johnson if NOLA makes him an unrestricted free agent, they been high on him and his stock has fallen. He basically went from starter to 3rd stringer and is still young. I'd sign Jeff Green for the minimum as a back up, he's a better player than Dante Cunningham that's for sure.

Not going to get anyone any good a lot of teams are going to have money this off season so everybody is getting over paid. Just sign Nikola and Ben Moore and and draft Rui and Louis King then we good to rock
I'm going to set the bar for this offseason at not bringing back QPon or Dante and not bringing in somebody like them (Washed up veterans who provided absolutely nothing to the team from an on-court perspective) to waste two roster spots.
That's the bar for this FO![]()
two of Ariza, Jeff and Stanley
Thanks, I'm with you on spending it on a SF.
Seems like you have already started an "Off Season Write Up" thread. Not sure another one is needed.
Anywayfor thinking about starting one. However, with Pop already indicating the Spurs will most likely stay pat it might be a boring off season.
Definitely! You are absolutely, positively spot on about this.
We need that guy in a bad way. Long, athletic, defensive minded, slasher and 3 point shooting Small Forward. And not some 6'4" midget.
1. Honestly standing Pat and just drafting solid picks with three best available on the board at the time of each pick.
2. Definitely do not overpaying with extensions and/or bad contracts and I will think of this off season as a victory.
3. Do what they do every year with the last two the three spots and farm the undrafted summer league invites and throw some non guaranteed contracts for pre-season and see what sticks with the obvious position of need at the 3 with draft, signings, pre season.
I hear there's a sale on honey at the Blanco/West Ave HEB.
see my answers in parenthesis
I'm excited to see how PATFO builds the team this offseason. In last summer's free agency they skewed towards offense with Beli and choosing Bertans over Anderson because last year's team didn't have enough shooting, but then the Number Two trade threw the balance completely off. Murray getting hurt made things worse by forcing Pop to play Forbes and Mills more.
This year they know what they have to work with and should be able to build a much more balanced roster.
Considering age is an important factor I think our choice on a mid level small free agent small forward should concentrate on someone who can develop chemistry with our young guns in the coming 3/4 seasons (that's the possible - assuming all are re-signed being rfa or team friends- minimum extent of players like DJM, White, Walker, Forbes, our two first and Poeltl.
The two names who could possibly fit these perspective are, imho, Johnson and Henzonja. Both are young and top ten draft pick talented, at least phisically...so they could fit perfectly with the time line of the rest of the youngsters of our team, and they could be well developed and improved in their obvious weaknesses by our staff...the problem with Johnson is most of all his confidence and his shooting; the problem with Henzonja is that he has to get over himself and understand he has to become coachable for his own good (otherwise he'll be always reminded as a game of zones character...aka a player who's not worth a horse that makes horse's stuff).
I remember our guys was looking into trying to trade for Stanley Johnson a couple of seasons ago. The guy is still young and could become a better shooter under the right tutelage and he is already a good defender. I wouldn't mind the team taking a flyer on him and I wouldn't be surprised I'd they did.
I’m thinking Johnson and/or Huestis will be on this team next year. Adding Okeke and a athletic defensive minded big would be great. Stanley can easily be our new age Bruce Bowen![]()
Bertans is the king of advance stats. And he still can improve. I would give him another chance.
no pressure but most important thread of the yearhopefully tony is back for one year
TBH, at this point in his career, Gay is a stretch 4 that can occasionally slide over and play 3 in some instances. The biggest need for this team is a starting caliber sf, who can defend.
age wise Stanley Johnson is definitely the best option, as he fits the timeline of our young guys. The question is can he develop a reliable 3-point shot. I guess Spurs think Chip can fix that, since they have been high on him for years now. The problem is he got traded from Detroit to NOLA and is a restricted free agent. So our only chance to sign him is if the Pelicans don't want to keep him and make him an unrestricted free agent.
I think Carroll should be a target. Somebody like Jeff Green can be the end of the bench back up. People here criticize those players but we had Dante Cunningham and he wasn't even good enough to get minutesAll these players I mentioned would be an upgrade from the Dante/Pondexter tandem
