I really liked Nazr's play last night. Dont know why he got pulled. Very aggresive. Would like to see him get more minutes.

For me, the thing that has me excited about Oberto is his pedigree: a big man that has (successfully) spent considerable time in a motion offense and makes good decisions on court is really rare. He's got better hands than Nazr and is already more effective offensively than Rasho.

The only question is the Spurs defensive system. If Oberto can master it, he'll be getting 25-30 minutes a night.

I agree with the people saying Oberto played crapy D. He was outrebounded more than once and on one occasion, Melo torched him. But his 6 points were good, with at least one, if not more, coming off O rebounds.

and on one occasion, Melo torched him.
Melo also torched everyone including Bowen. Can't blame O-to for that.

Oberto looked like a newcomer to the squad, which he is. He looked like he knows how to play ball, just needs to adjust. Give him time before judging.

Rasho made some nice plays, including D. He's never going to make anyone forget Olajuwon, but he's serviceable for what we need of him.

Nazr is still the best option at C, IMO. He's more active on rebounding and scrapping down low. When he and Tim were in together in the 2nd half they pretty much owned the paint on both ends. Of course Denver is not a powerhouse team down low (thanks for acting like the punk you are, K-Mart), but then who is (besides any team w/Shaq)?

Nazr sucked defensively. That is what Pop was so mad about. He still has not a clue where to be.

And how was Nazr more active in rebounding? He had ONE rebound in 10 minutes.

We have the beginnings of a great season-long center controversy: Which of the Spurs centers is the worst?

The only thing I can say about Oberto is that my wife asked who he was, then looked at Manu, said she didn't like his short hair and then kept looking at Oberto.

I gave her the "eyes" she returned the look and that was that. Women throw away the "Ginobili's Girl" t-shirt and grab the "Fabri's Girl" t-shirt! FAST!

Najera should buy a lotto ticket tonight with all those lucky jumpers. He would have given steve kerr a run for his money tonight.
Exactly. When I saw him taking those jumpers, I thought hey that's the kind of shot they we want Denver to take. He didn't miss a single one.

Am I wrong? I don't recall him being a good consistent shooter. Hey, even Lindsay Hunter had a good night during game 4 in the Finals (or was it game 3 ).

I have to say Oberto's shot did not look good. No arc on the ball at all. Flat, hard fast ball without rotation. He will not be a consistent shooter. Although I don't think of Najera as a good shooter, his form is a lot better than Oberto's.

Oberto is undersized, but sometimes there can be a place for them. He is smart about going to the basket (cutting after screens), he is a good passer and he will be a good role player. He will be an asset to our team, just not a person who will be a centerpiece, more of a supporting role.

we will give najera and camby those outside shots all day. they will not make them all the time. i can't believe najera made that many of them, but you can live with that.

I'll give Eddie the jumpers, but letting him dribble circles around you for an easy layup is ridiculous. Fabri has a way to go.

    Oberto is undersized
    I donīt agree

    Nazr Mohammed
    San Antonio Spurs
    Position: C
    Height: 6-10 Weight: 250
    College : Kentucky

    Fabricio Oberto
    San Antonio Spurs
    Position: F
    Height: 6-10 Weight: 245
    From : Argentina

Oberto may be only 5 Pounds undersized

Nazr is 6'10 3/4 without shoes.

I'd bet Oberto is 6'8 without shoes.

Nazr is good on teh boards for rebounds but on the offensive side once he pump fakes he loses inches, alot of inches. So Oberto is not undersized vs Pump fakin' Mohhamad.

Oberto didn't look great, but I can see the potential. He's really smart -- almost Robert Horry smart. He knows where to go on the offensive end. That is something that Nazr and Rasho will never figure out.

His mistakes were correctable. I worry a little about his size, but I think he'll be fine next to Duncan.

I still think that he'll end up starting before long.

I'm wondering if Najera did some work with Chip last year at Denver. I sure don't remember him having the shooting stroke he has now.

It surprised me too! Najera kept hitting and hitting,I'm pretty sure the Mexican news kept replaying and replaying Najera's losing heroics and blamed Kmart for the Nuggetts demise.

In a few matchups Oberto can have problems

Vs Shaq, vs Garnett, vs J OīNEAL, or Yao, but every center in the NBA have the sames problems, If Shaq can try to stop his Twin, have the same problems too

When you have a great center, this guy is unstoppable, Shaq canīt work with Kareem Abdul Jabbarīs Skyhook or Hakeem's Dreamshake

Malik Rose had better defense over Shaq than Rasho

And if the Center is going to score more than 20 Points, the best choice is if you have one guy who can make the same thing

Rasho or Nazr canīt score 20 points, but Oberto have a chance

Oberto can take fouls of the Centers, and Nazr too, if they fouled Oberto or Nazr, they canīt make fouls to TD

Thatīs the reason why Nazr is better than Rasho

With Oberto in the team you canīt double TD, beacuse Oberto alone is more dangerous than Nazr or Rasho

Najera just had one of his better nights against Oberto. Hopefully Oberto gets much better in Pop's system, because nothing stood out from his play. He has a weird shot line drive release, but he did knock one shot down. He made some easy layups. It is some of rebounds that concerned me. He seemed to just let Canby grab rebounds over him. I don't know if he's only used to just getting space and grabbing rebounds. I don't think that will work in the nba for him. He needs to jump and box out because the nba has too many great athletes. Overall he did fine.

Overall I wasn't impressed, but it was the first game, so I'm not worried yet. What kept irking me was his rebonding. Several times he was in postion, but seemed to be easily out jumped for them, even though he had his man boxed out.
