I cruise A LOT. Its always amusing to hear opinions on cruising from people who have never cruised lol. I agree the cruise industry should not benefit from a bailout, but I think they will recover anyway.
you can forget about the massive petri dishes tbqh

    Are there food fights?
Like fat people ramming each other to get at the Lamb?
I’ve never seen a food fight. The only fights I’ve ever seen are like when people who have been laying in the sun all day drinking and then decide to pick with their spouse. You just want to slap them both lol

Fat people arent a problem at the food. The problem is at the elevators. I took my first cruise in 1994 and sooo many things have changed, but not fat people at the elevators. They have to get in before anyone gets out, I don’t know why. And usually its more than one at a time. The absolute worst is fat people on scooters! They are mean. But like in a mall or big hotel, they mostly just impede traffic flow.

Oh and the only place I have ever been in an elevator that exceeds the weight limits is on a cruise It happens every time. The fat people get all huffy about it and the last person who got on has to get off. They get all mad even cuss everyone out when the doors are closing

    Truth bombs.

The airlines can declare chapter 11 bankruptcy and fight with their lenders about it in court. They were irresponsible with the bailout money they got last time and their lenders were equally as irresponsible for not restricting how bailout money was used. This is a matter for bankruptcy judges to figure out not the American tax payer.

They don't employ Americans. They don't get to pretend they're not American companies when the taxman comes but then come with their hands out expecting us to hand them billions. Carnival should go ask Panama for a bailout, Royal Caribbean can go get their bailout from Liberia, and Norwegian can go get their bailout from Bermuda. They don't want to pay taxes here and employ Americans according to US labor laws? Then not our problem when they're going to go belly up.
As the baby boomer generation ages, look for many other cruise lines to get in on the trend of accommodating them. As time goes by, more and more options will be added to the already-impressive array that is currently out there. Baby boomers have a lot of pull, and they can rest assured that cruise lines will continue to cater to their whims and demands as much as possible.

In the end you we just know Pelosi and Cocaine Mitch are going to “compromise” on a bailout plan that does absolutely nothing for the American people while the airlines and cruise lines will get bailed out after years of mismanagement stock buybacks and stagnant wages.

One anecdote: I had a case that got thrown into C11 late last year. The Bankruptcy judge was horrible. One of the most blatantly slanted and borderline dishonest judges I've been in front of. Ridiculously pro-debtor. Didn't really give a about any of the creditors, secured or not.

Not saying that that's representative of all bkr judges. But from my limited experience, airlines could still come out of all this in a pretty advantageous position. Obviously, the CEOs and stockholders would get more ed than a bailout (which is why it will happen), but they'd still receive a "bail out" of sorts in C11.

While congress has major shareholders in all these corporations, they are going to vote their own pocketbooks. Good thing they all sold, now they can be unbiased.

I’d be ok with that because it would freeze up future credit markets for airlines unless they modified their behavior.

Everyone always views the creditor as an aggrieved party in bankruptcies but in the end they extended credit to airlines that have historically always needed bailouts/relief in an economic downturn. They should have had debt covenants restricting stock buybacks.

The country is ours, we just don't take it.

"They" close ranks and work as a team, we don't. They get the lions share of the rewards because of it, we don't. We are too busy pulling weaves off s in Walmart.

Conceptually, I understand the outcry over buybacks. As a beneficiary of some of those, I'm much more ambivalent.

I just don't know how the whole industry is that poorly run.

Ha the petri dish thing is the dumbest thing I hear related to cruise ships I’m a critical care/trauma nurse. I’ve worked my entire career in hospitals. I challenge you to find a place in your favorite hospital, say the icu waiting room or the dining room. Sit there for a couple of hours and count the number of cleaning staff that come by cleaning up. Then book yourself a cruise and find a place (anywhere) to sit for a couple of hours and count the number of staff you see coming by mopping and wiping down all surfaces. The disparity will shock you. I’ve done it and never gone more than 3 minutes without seeing someone. Heck in my last ICU our housekeeper also took care of the waiting room. I guarantee some days she never entered it!

No accountability/moral hazard is why. Same reason banks were irresponsible in the RMBS heyday, they knew they’d get a bailout when it all came crashing down.

Better hope no one here hits you with a black light with all that semen shielding you're doing for cruise liners. Did you have 3 year olds smearing mashed potatoes into the wall fabric of the waiting rooms or did you live in one for 7 days where you couldn't possibly leave? Two completely different scenarios and not mutually exclusive. Cruise ships are cesspools, no need to semen shield for them.

I’m not semen shielding, Im just sharing my own experience as opposed to opining on something I haven’t done. Never seen 3 yr olds or any age smear mashed potatoes on any wall anywhere but since you have I take your word on it. You are the expert

They need to be broken up. And them spending all their money on stock buybacks. Ever since this started getting big in China I have been penny pinching like since it was inevitable SARSCov2 was going to get here and spread throughout the entire country. But no why not have gotten a new Escalade and demanded Uncle Sam make my monthly payment? out of here Delta, United, American, and Southwest.

you aren't wrong though as far as cleanliness goes. the people on board are disgusting slobs but the crew cleans religiously from what i witnessed on my 2 cruises.

hospitals are horrible! i've witnessed all sorts of in the handful of times i've been to the VA and regular hospitals. when my grandfather was dying and has respiratory problems the nurses left cavicide wipes container wide open. anyone who knows of cavicide, wavicide, madacide, etc knows those agents are harsh to breathe in let alone get on your skin; cancer causing agents that wipe clean hepC and the like from surfaces but should always be kept close and in a safe spot. i use wavicide at the shop, wear gloves at all times, and if i spray a bit too much it feels like my nose is burning on the inside and i get choked up. very harsh agents!

The UBI checks are going to have to be there since Trump already promised them and he has absolute zero chance of re-election if he pulls them away now.
