Yeah, then there would be a spot for him.

AD is even holding his basketball camp here in SA later in the summer.

I think he is dying to be back on the Spurs.

AD as a backup point guard again??

Do we REALLY want to go down that road AGAIN?

Id try to resign Speedy as hard as I could before Id do that.

On the court AD would be a very nice pickup for the Spurs. I don't know enough about the lockerroom bidness. I doubt he wants a Steve Kerr role.

Spending a year riding the pine in Portland can do wonders for a player's acceptance of a consistent bench role in San Antonio.

...AD as the 5th guard? I'd take that.

I say No. Maybe AD is scouting the Spurs, but I doubt the Spurs are looking at AD. That fifth guard spot could be filled with someone much better IMO.

AD as a fifth guard would be good. If he can live with the amount of minutes that Steve Smith got this year, then AD is worth going after.

Some matchups, the Spurs need a player like him.

    (See: Marbury, Stephon)

I do not believe you could find a better 5th guard than AD. Provided, of course, that he would take the limited minutes and $ the Spurs would have to offer. I don't see that. Someone will pick him up and give him a good opportunity.

    Parker/Claxton
    SJackson/Ginobili/AD?
    Bowen

Ack. I'd rather keep Kerr for another year or get Jason Hart back from Greece. Those guys can actually run the point. On second thought, it might not be the worst thing as I'd see Manu actually hadling the ball a lot if Parker goes down in the future--but in that case Devin Brown would be cheaper and taller.

Devin Brown over Antonio Daniels? No disrespect to Devin, who I think has improved his game immensely since his days at UTSA, but no. Devin couldn't even get guaranteed minimum money from Denver.

AD is the better player, but it doesn't matter anyway because according to Danny Ferry and other players he was a locker-room cancer anyway.

I like Antonio, and so do the Magic. There has been talk about getting him down here, and he'll be a good backup to T-Mac.

Didn't he turn it down because he didn't want to be restricted this summer?

I'm a big fan of AD as a player and as a person. He has great athletic ability and in his time here, he gave us good service.
But, I think it's in the interests of both the Spurs and AD that he plays elsewhere.
He seems a good fella from all the interviews and such that I've heard, but I think he wants to play, thus he'd want minutes which he can't get here assuming we keep Bowen, Manu and Jackson.

If we need a backup PG, we have many other options before AD.

In terms of Devin Brown, he had a great season in the NBDL and has some talent that deserves a decent chance in the NBA; but I'd prefer to see how he handles the Summer League first.
