    Name: Antonio Daniels
    Height: 6-4
    Weight: 205 lbs.
    Pos: PG
    Age: 28
Born: March 19, 1975, Columbus, OH
Drafted: 1997, 1st round, 4th pick by Grizzlies
    College: Bowling Green

Funny, I know. But Daniels is a free agent this summer.

I doubt there will be much bidding going on for his services, so the Spurs could get him back for cheap. If Pop wants him, he could get him.

The question is whether Pop wants him. I think the answer is no. AD could always run the floor and bring energy, but he lacked fundamentals and was rumored to be a cancer in the lockerroom.

But if the team is filling out there roster ... and they need a fifth guard ... would they?

    Hmmm...

They could do worse but he will get a better deal from someone else. Hate to say it but LA seems like a good fit for him.

Nope, nada, not interested. Then again, with Smith gone we can use a dependable, defensive backup for Manu, SJax. Okay, a little interested if he can accept his role as a backup...which he may finally be accepting of, especially to escape the turmoil in Blazer land. Must come cheaply though.

I could see getting AD for the min to use him as a 2nd backup for PG and SG. I doubt that is what AD wants, though?

AD coming back would be too funny. What is his going rate going to be?

Timvp, you're always the subtle comedian.

Way to go with this suggested free agent! I haven't laughed this hard all day!

I'm down. He is one of my fav players in the L still. When he got his chance to shine in the 2001 WCF when DA went down he was awesome. He is so exciting to watch

he is a good player, thats not the problem. he was rumored to be a distraction in the lockerroom. I don't think Pop will be looking to sign him.

^^^I heard the same thing too Patrick.....if that is the case....Pop WILL NOT bring him back.

    I'd rather have Devin Brown.

I thought those rumors were nothing more than rumors???

Weren't the Spurs worried about him becoming a distraction?

Personally, he would be a really effective combo guard to fill in as a 3rd stringer at the PG or SG position.

Well, before the rumors start flying this summer, let me add this: AD will be in SA this summer. He is once again running his basketball camp here. Of course, that doesn't mean that the Spurs organization won't talk to him. Or Duncan for that matter. I can see the threads already: AD sighting with Duncan in Tow! Duncan wants AD back and it's both of us or none. or POP and AD were at All*Stars and they seemed to be having a very heavy confab! I don't think that was the lunch check that Pop was signing. Looked more official than that. :p

I've had a feeling that he would return since they traded him. I guess it's whatever Timmy wants.

If Bryant wasn't chasing Bowen out to the 3-point line, he was trying to keep Ginobili from getting to the rim. With former Spurs guard Antonio Daniels, ironically, sitting in a seat near midcourt, Ginobili put on a stunning display of acrobatic shot-making unmatched since George Gervin was finger-rolling in HemisFair Arena.
    Hmmm ...

    What do you think?

Some team is bound to offer AD a decent contract. I definitely would not mind seeing him back in SA.

Where would he fit though? If one thinks that SJackson will eventually be the starting 3 and Bowen will start coming off the bench then perhaps there would be room. I think AD's skills are extremely complementary to this current Spurs squad but he may be too pricey.

I think if Pop and RC went to him and said

if you accept the minimum and agree to play within the system behind Claxton Manu and others,

then we would love to have you back.

Other than that, theres better players out there.

How about if the Spurs lose Claxton ... could AD be the backup PG?

    Might work.
