Because Artest is what the NBA likes.

Hip hop. Boastfull, full of himself.

Bowen is David Robinsonesque. Not full of himself, quiet, does his work, and does it wonderfully.

Bowen has turned easily into one of my favorite players.

Anyone notice him getting yanked in the beginning of the third quarter for not rotating out to Mobley quick enough?

    That was interesting.

Pretty amazing that he is averaging a career high in minutes considering the Finley addition. I wonder if that will continue.
Yeah, I'm not really sure what to make of that. Most people would have bet at the start of the year that he would have the biggest drop in minutes of anyone.

Maybe that's Pop's way of thumbing his nose at the experts.

I'm sure Pop's original plan was to scale Bowen back (or keep him around 30) but with the injuries to Manu, Barry and Fin, I guess it's been impossible.

Bowen is probably in better physical shape than anyone on the team. I know his body will eventually need more rest, but at this point (thankfully) he's still good to go.

When Ginobili gets back, and they go against teams with not so athletic guards and or forwards, then Pop will be able to play Ginobili Finley, or Finley Barry or Ginobili Barry or....

    You get the picture.

Finley's D has improved, although its probobly Clipper level D, and not Maverick D anymore.

Damn it takes awile to beat the Maverick D out of these guys lol.

Bowen has been incredible this season. He is the one guy that has improved significantly from last season which is kinda of hard to believe. You would think he would have lost half a step over the summer but he's just as quick and stronger than ever. Offensively, he's as efficient as they come except for the free throws.

    BOWEN FOR DPOY!

There is nothing I have seen out of Bowen this season to overshadow his past accomplishments. Are you people saying the compe ion is tier this season?

I think Bruce owns, but I can be honest and say he's done nothing this year that makes him a better defender than in previous years.

Bowen is just consistent. He plays the same D, year in...year out. Whether you think he's better than previous years...I dunno. But, he sure ain't worse.

And if reputation gets him the DPOY award...thats fine with me. His earned that damn reputation. If he can last 4 more years, playing with the same consistency...then there should be another award, just for him.

    Defensive Player of the Decade.

Nobody said his defense is better. But it sure isn't worse. And the rest of his game is more complete than its ever been.

Overall, he's a much better player at 34 than he was at 30. How many other players could say that.

Bowen will win it this year.

Theres no way in that Artest will win, considering all this trade business. And as much as I hate to admit it, Big Ben seems to be on the decline. He is not the Ben Wallace of 3 years ago. I'm a bit worried that the Pistons will give him a huge contract and end up hugely overpaying for a player on a steady decline.

To his defense (no pun intended ), he's working with two bum ankles. But still, theres no denying that his play isn't at the level that it has been in the past.

As mentioned, Marcus Camby will contend for DPOY. If Kirilenko stays healthy, he'll contend. And, if Pat Riley decides that Alonzo Mourning can play some power forward with Shaq, and Zo plays 25-30 minutes a game, he'll be in contention.

I soooooo agree. I'm sure he'll get a near max deal, but it would be a terrible mistake.

if he is on the decline and gets a near max deal, it still wouldn't be hard to fleece the knicks in a few years in a trade.

    truuuu truuuuu

but theres always some defensive show boat that dunks ferocoiusly that will garner more votes than quiet 'ole bruce

If we really want Bruce to win, we need Pop to compile some bogus, unsubstantiated stats in Bruce's favor and/or Bruce to release a sub-sub-par rap album. That'll show 'em

Bowen has no steals, now one block and doesn't rebound... I seriously doubt he is the DPOY.

He shut down Bosh in OT. We were down two bigs, Bowen moved to the 4 spot, and he ing SHUT HIM DOWN.

    DPOY

P.S. It was weird seeing Bowen inbound the ball as the four in the lineup.

Dude is one of the top 3 ball shooters in the league but he doesn't get the nod for the a-star game?

Dude plays starter minutes with no stats.... I seriously doubt it...

    Ben Wallace... again.

Bowen has proven this season that he can actually guard the bigs in short stretches with his fronting. He's so friggin' skinny that I don't know how he holds his ground, but he manages to do it. This isn't the first game that he's been moved over to guard a power forward late in a game and done well. It's amazing to me. Tonight was incredible that Bosh didn't even touch the ball in OT.

I'm sure the NBA will find another glory player to give the DPOY trophy, but I hope not.

As great as Bruce is, I don't think he'll get it. I thought the same thing last year. I don't think he really gets appreciated for what he does because it's overshadowed by Duncan's excellent defense in the paint.

Marcus Camby will win it Im sure.

Bowen deserves it more than ever.

Shutting down an uber atheltic 7 footer in clutch moments of a game is fan ing tastic.
