Spurs in 5... there are very few teams in history that could beat the 2014 Spurs in a seven game series... Michael's Bulls...86 Celtics... very few..
05 Spurs were the best. 05 team would destroy 2014 spurs.

That's an insane stat. Especially considering that it only includes two of the four Cali teams.

And ONLY the second former ABA franchise to win an NBA le since the 1976 merge (Spurs 5-1, Nets 0-2, Pacers 0-1, Nuggets 1-0 after this run)

    Congrats Nuggets.

That being said. After watching Game 5 today, I say Spurs would have beaten the Nuggets in 5.

That Heat team the Spurs ing mopped might have beaten the Nuggets. There is nothing to discuss here.
This. Both teams in the 14 Finals were better than both teams in this Finals. And the Spurs won by much larger margin (the largest in history, I believe).

There was no "what an avalanche from San Antonio!" moment in this series.

Nuggets were clearly the better team in these Finals but my god they couldn't make a shot if their lives depended on it in this game 5. Their very first Finals and it clearly showed tonight. The 2014 veteran Spurs team would wipe the floor with them mentally.

The 2014 spurs were on a mission specifically against the heat, because of the all time choke job from the previous season.

Let's not forget that they went to 7 against a mavs team starting Samuel Dalembert and Jose Calderon

The Nuggets outclassed and dominated every single matchup that was presented to them since the start of the playoffs.

14 spurs vs 23 Nuggets goes to 7 and it can go either way imho tbh ngl.

Good point that must be factored in.

The change in the lineup with Diaw in the finals changed everything

    Denver's run:

A Twolves team that wasn't even close a playoff level squad.

A banged up Suns team that had just mortgaged their chemistry to chase the gutless wonder of Kevin Durant.

An aging Lakers team that defaulted into the WCF as Memphis was in full explosion mode and the Warriors barely wanted to be playing basketball (and have no one outside of Curry at this point).

Quality of WC playoff opponents, charitably, is a D+. That's charitable.

Then in the Finals they get an 8 seed that outscrapped the Celtics who almost lost to the biggest choke artists in the NBA? Teams shouldn't be able to "gut it out" to the Finals. The Celtics are absolutely terrible, 2 full echelons below how they've been billed by the media. Almost any other year and the Heat don't get out of the 2nd round regardless of what seed they have.

Lordy. Denver gets *full* credit for how dominant of a run that was, but they were arguably the only great team in the entire postseason.

This cracks me up....dude just wants to go home and be with his family and horses:

    "Nobody likes their job"

I love Jokic as a player, but imagine Timmy or Manu saying this.

Jokic would’ve got his for sure, but the rest of his team was rather unimpressive outside of 2 games for Jamal Murray. The Nuggets shot 33% from 3 for the series, and that barrage of 3’s at the end of Game 4 when the game was already out of reach skewed those numbers. It was really like 29% with the garbage time 3’s that game. Their role players looked nervous for the better part of the Finals. Spurs would beat them in 5 imo.

Nuggets were trying to lose game 5 and the Heat wouldn't let them. 2014 Spurs weren't going to be stopped short of the le and this Nuggets team wouldn't have stood in their way.

Prime '03 Duncan would have been an interesting Denver matchup.

Calderon was a decent player back then. He was even talked about as an all star a few years. Dalembert did not even avg 24 min or half the game. He was more of the Defense player to go up against the good bigs. Ever team has had their weak players. No team has had a starting 5 of MVP caliber players.

I think 2014 finals team would be any finals team. And the WCF team would be most too. But that round one team would lose to nuggets round one team in 5.

Lol ain't that the truth. The Spurs didn't field their starting lineup the last several games of the season. Rust combined with Vince Carter's game winner made that series look closer than it was.
