Clingan in top 3 is the key for Spurs to have a shot at Sarr, Risacher or Reed. But I’d be happy with Castle at 4.

Salaun at 8 (his standing reach of 9’2” is intriguing and the kid could be a brute force if he gets even bigger). Williams was ahead of his brother at this age, and Tooic could be worth waiting for if the Spurs think he’s the future starting point guard.

My ideal is Sarr and Dilly. That looks like a Twin Tower plus TP, just missing Manu.
Reed and Castle would be a perfect combination of shooting and defense
Castle and Carter is doable and could be a defensive juggernaut
Castle and Saluan is very doable. Defense on both perimeter and post.
Risacher and Topic addresses length plus great facilitator

    I can’t wait!

Note: Or Brian Wright could pull a Buzelis and Knecht

My dream scenario is we somehow end up with Castle, Dillingham, and Salaun. Would take some sleek trade maneuvering by Wright, trading up or down depending how dominos fall.

Would also be happy with Risacher, Sheppard, and Carter.

I keep reading people here write how set they are in who they want and don’t want. I definitely have some preferences, but it’s such a low-stakes draft. If the Spurs draft someone I didn’t really want, I’ve gotta hope they are doing their due diligence. That being said:

(Risacher / Sheppard) is probably best for the Spurs long term
(Risacher / Castle) is still my preferred combo (although unlikely)
(Castle / Salaun) is what I’m expecting to happen.

Castle and Salaun. You heard it here first.
This has steadily been my prediction as well over the past week, and seems to be the most likely given the info at hand.

I wonder if the insane price point for a two-way wing like Bridges changes their stance on paying premium for Zacch. Were are they going to get the starting 2-way wing if the odds don't favor them next year. You need those guys for serious playoff runs.

As long as pick 4 is a consensus top half of the lottery player, I'll be okay with it. If it's ing Salaun or something, it's going to be a long off-season and probably, an even longer season.

They've taken their swings on long-armed guys who have physical measurables. We are waiting for those guys to show up to camp with a three point shot or to demonstrate basketball skills. I'm kind of in favor of drafting at least one established shooter.

Nah, it's the Spurs so when their pick is up, they will obviously choose Saleh (https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...r_up_there.jpg) instead to everyone's surprise lol

He's at least projected in the lottery tbh. They'll take someone like Jamaal Shead at 4, book it.

My final board with some terrible comparisons. I’m down for whatever though as long as it’s not Holland. I think the top 9 are splitting hairs I just ranked them based on potential for the most part. I’m all for a trade back at 4 or 8 if you acquire future assets and still get multiple players in this draft.

    NBA Draft Board 2024

    • Matas Buzelis-Jayson Tatum

    this one cracked me tbh

With reports that Houston is trading the third pick increasingly likely, I now believe Sheppard is the odds on favorite to be picked at #4.

    #4 - Sheppard
    #8 - Salaun

    You heard it here first.

You Castle truthers can bookmark this post.

It’s going to be a long ass 4 years for me.

Rookie year, Castle shoots 30% from 3. Spurstalk: you see he improved his stats from college and he will become a shooter in the future.

Year 2 castle: shoots 32% from 3. Spurstalk: He is improving like we said he would! Buncha haters on this board and sky is falling from this pick are awfully quiet now.

Year 3 Castle: he shoots 32% from 3 again. Spurstalk: he’s still really young. It took Tony 10 years to learn how to shoot. You can’t rush the process. His form is much improved now. He’s only 23. No player ever improved once they hit 23 yuck yuck yuck

Year 4 Castle: he shoots 33% from 3 and all 4 years on the Spurs he makes less than one a game. People will be clamoring how his shot has improved and he is on the right track. He’s 24 and averaging 13, 5, and 4 and up for a contract extension… smh this might be a 6 year thing of torture for me.

The dude will never be a shooter. He will make 1.3 threes a game at most. He will be mid on defense and I’m going to have to wait 6 years for people to be on my side (the correct one) about Castle and hear all the lies how they knew he wouldn’t work out and blah blah blah. 6 years of Mr. Body telling people off for being miserable and to kill themselves.

Brian Wrong: I know you read my posts. Pick either Reed and Knecht or Matas and Knecht. It’s that simple.

I feel (sorta) the same way, but here's hoping we're wrong if he wears the Spurs hat.

I'm ok with either Reed or Buzelis and Knecht over Castle, fo sho.

Think I'm hoping for the Spurs to be able to pick between Risacher or Sheppard at 4 and between Salaun or Williams at 8. No necessarily pick those players -- but at least have the option of one or those players at each pick. I don't think I'll be Primo-level mad with any reasonable pick. Primo was a terrible pick because the Spurs reached for a low ceiling, low floor player in the lottery. To replicate in this draft, they'd have to do something like Furphy at 4 or Da Silva at 8

Spurs better not pass on Reed if he happens to fall into their laps at 4.

Hey LJ, if it's Carrington at 8 how would you feel about that? Sam Vecenie actually quite like him and according to him on a podcast, Carrington was real tiny until like 17 or 18 years old. Seems like a retalively late boomer, as Carrington hasn't quite figured out how to use his size to attack the rim.
