I've had RR for several years now and have few complaints. I have had to switch out their modem a couple times, though.

I use a Microsoft g band router, works pretty good for me. I installed it without any help from TWC, and there doesn't seem to be any problem.

I had Road Runner since it was first introduced into SA. I was like customer 300 and went to one of the first self install classes they offered.
I did the same thing - the "early bird" classes were a joke, but it was the only way to get the equipment at the time. As much as I hate Time Warner, I simply can't say anything bad about thier Roadrunner service. I've had maybe three or four hours downtime in the last five years and the speed has increased over that time period. No complaints.

They happen to have a well known problem nationwide with service. Why do you think they have those commercials about the cable going out in storms?

It happens to me everytime... I am on the service fringe but it's supposed to be a "fiber" backbone so for 50 bucks a month the should work.
    Sorry, Vashner, it's just you.

Yeah...same here, but it does go down for a minute at least every day and sometimes several times a day. And this was after they swapped out a new outside cable.

    I need a T3 line.

If you live in an area with new phonelines I prefer SBC's DSL. The areas of town with older lines suck, but the new ones are ing FAST.

My big problem is how TW cable treats you. Takes like 1 hour of cell time to get a local tech. I am like "Fix your .. it's not mine" .. "sorry sir now unplug your firewall".. me: nice try .. no that's like dropping the "sir you just need to try".

Then I tell them "if it's the firewall why does the cable light go out".. they go "uhhh.. huh huh". Low IQ.

Really? Cuz I've always had great service from them. The tech who replaced the cable was very dedicated. I was having problems also with In Demand not working on our HD-DVR box. It bugged him so much that he promised to come out the next day to replace the cable and see it that would fix the problem. And he did! And it did!

I have Roadrunner at home and SBC DSL @ work. The DSL has worked flawlessly for 4-5 years now...The roadrunner give frequent problems...slows down, modems have to be replaced (about 4 times so far) and the modem crashes frequently...we have to unplug everything and let it boot at least once a month...

The Time Warner people have always been helpful and courteous...once you finally get them...I don't know about the SBC DSL support...I've never had to use it...

We had both SBC DSL & TWC for a while ... SBC was the one we always had problems with. It all depends on your lines, I guess.

I rarely have problems with TWC, but then I don't think having to reboot something every once in a while is that big of a deal...I mean, sometimes I even remember to reboot my PC when it's been acting up.

It wouldn't be a big deal if it was just a pushbutton reboot, but you have to disconnect power and cables to the cable modem and leave them off for awhile before it does it's auto reboot...not a huge deal but it is an aggravation when you are right in the middle of working on something and it happens a couple of times in one sitting...

Anyone have the higher speed Road Runner service? Is it really faster on uploads?
