Best Buy
My husband always walks into places and makes the sales people all happy by talking them and joking around stuff.I just want to get in there find what I want and be left the alone. I hate pushy sales people. Usually by the time we leave somewhere my husband knows their shoe size and their mother's maiden name.
But at least we get a pretty good deal out of it most of time.
I went to Best BUy today to get my stereo installed.
They open @ 10am. Told me to be there about that time because it is 1st come 1st serve.
I got there at 9:50.
I wait my turn.
Dude named Ray coems over to me asks what I need (he is very polite and calls me "ma'am".. although I wish he wouldn't). I say I need my stereo installed- here;s my recipt.
He says there are 8 or 9 people ahead of me and they wouldn't get to do mine untill after 3pm.
At this point (after waiting adn talking and filling out form and what not) it is 11am. I say "fine" can I leave and come back?
He says thats fine but if I could come back around 2:30 so that my place inline doesn't get skipped.
I go to the park.
I go to lunch. At this point 2 yr old is in need of a nap. Going home, napping and coming back would go past 2:30 so we stay out & about.
I go to Marshalls. (psssst. 75% off clearance ladies!! panties, shirts, shoes!!)
It;s 2:15 - load kids in car and go back to best buy. 2yr old is now so over tired she is doing the constant whine that never ever stops. If you ask her what is wrong or tell her it is OK she breaks into an all out scream.
2:25 get to Best Buy - unload kids.
Guy at Best Buy says "we are very far behind today and the line hasn;t moved up near your car yet" Well.... how many are infron of me now?
Apparently there are still 8 or 9 cars to go before my turn. HUH??? Even tho the vehicles i nthe stalls at 2:30 are no the ones that were there that mornign and those ones are gone.
It seems that mine was the only stereo install... everyone else was getting speakers, amps, tv's dvds etc.
Frigging crap. He said if I stayed they might be able to fit me in around 7pm.

I am going to try agian tomarrow.
I will be at Best buy at 6am with the girls in PJ's if friggin need be.

I just had a personal policy that I would at least introduce myself and ask if they had any questions for me. If the person said "no" or anything like that, I just would say that if they did, I'd do my best to help them and let them be.A good salesperson should also pay attention to the (potential) customer's level of eye contact and facial expressions. Usually if someone wants help they'll be looking around for someone...or if they they look somewhat confused or uncertain, it's probably a good idea to ask if they need assistance.
Otherwise, STFU. I hate that .

Retail is a thankless job. You can't please them all, and if you try, you end up pleasing nobody. I hope I never have to work retail again.

So, Tpark gets good service when he says he's going to spend 800 bucks and Jcrod gets bad service when he says Best Buy owes him money.

I never really go much to Circuit City.
We went one time to the Circuit City on 410/San Pedro (right by the Best Buy) and they had a laptop that I wanted for $100 cheaper than at BestBuy. But the Circuit City store was so ghetto and dirty that I bought the laptop from BestBuy instead.

Les Hines was the only guy that I ever liked from Best Buy. He was my SM at the San Pedro store and then he worked at the Ingram store when I was a vendor rep there.
Well, that, and I have a way of remembering people who did me wrong, too.
It's actually pretty easy. Leave people the alone unless they're looking around for somebody. Offer to help those people. Smile when you do. Don't take it personally when they say no. Look them in the eye and thank them for their purchase when you ring them up.
This isn't rocket science, it's just treating people with respect - even when they don't return it - because it is your ing job.
I worked retail for a couple years and always had one of the highest sales rates in the store. And all I did was treat people with respect.
I bought a laptop off a ghetto and dirty crack addict once. I got a badass laptop for $200. I'll take ghetto and dirty anyday to save a bill or two.
