I don't get all suicidal/depressed/mad/emotional/hormonal/etc. when the Spurs lose....there's really not a lot I can do about that except send as much mojo their way as I can.
    Someone who gets it.

Not true. Tim and Manu are playing at 100%.
Not true. The huge difference between last year's team and this year's team is Tim's continued lack of lateral mobility and lift on D. He can no longer cover for Nazr's ty D. See: the Ludden thread on opponent's shooting percentage. It's 47% over the last 12.

"Tim will not be 100% until next year"

that has been the prognosis, but if you've watched Tim in the last 2 or 3 games, he's been bouncing around and moving as well as ever.

He is NOT defending the paint as well, but now I'm beginning to think that's not/no-longer his PF limiting him, but a protective/preventative policy of Tim not being aggressive on defense, of Tim not putting himself at risk for defense.

I understand that Timmy was out, the point I'm trying to make is that they weren't firing on all cylinders heading into the playoffs.
Conceding your point that 2005 has something to do with 2006 (tell that to the 1998-99 Bulls):

Look at the inexperienced teams the Spurs had to play to get to the NBA Finals. I'm not trying to discredit the Champions, but the last time that Denver made consecutive playoff appearances, I had just entered grade school. The last time that Seattle made the second round, Vin Baker was an All-Star and Gary Payton was the team leader. The last time the Phoenix Suns were in the Conference Finals, they were led by another MVP - Charles Barkley, a full five-years removed from playing in the league, and 12 years removed from that season.

My point being that San Antonio, because they had no serious threats in the Western Conference, were able to use that inexperience to their advantage. I mean, didn't the Spurs drop game one to the Nuggets? Do that to the Kings, where Mike Bibby, Bonzi Wells, and Ron Artest have been to the Conference Finals, and they may actually make the Spurs pay for it. Not in a series loss, rather a tougher series than they bargained for. Do that to the Dallas Mavericks, a team that came back from a 2-0 deficit to the Houston Rockets last season, and who's team leaders have been in the Conference Finals, and watch them give the Spurs a fight for their life. If they encounter Phoenix or Denver in the Conference Finals, both will be more experienced than last season.

My point is not that the Spurs are vulnerable. My point is that they are facing a more difficult road to the Finals than last season, and if you are fan - don't flip out - but be concerned if they aren't playing the best basketball of the season by season's end.

Huh? The Bulls were broken up before this season. No Jordan, Pippen, Kerr, Rodman etc etc.

I know. That was simply a little joke. That's why it's got parenthesis around it, and isn't seperated by a hyphen - it's not that important.
