If they'd take Rasho, deal. As for Mohammed, you'd get someone back who could start (and who they wanted once upon a time). With the bigman rotation the Spurs have, Brown at 20 to 25 a night makes a lot of sense next season.
If Mohammed leaves SA, hopefully the Spurs get something in return.
PJ was one of the best post defenders in the league, i'm not sure how good he still is but i'd bet he's still way better then rasho and nazr.
If the Hornets would take Barry and Nesterovic for Smith and Brown, the Spurs would have to send them a ring next year.

This isn't PJ Brown in his prime we're talking about, it's PJ one year from retirement.
If they would do a Rasho + Barry for JR, PJ, and Maci I'd do it. Throw in Scola's bull buyout while we're at it and get rid of all our problem/potential problem contracts.
Theres plenty of reason to do this. The Hornets biggest needs right now are at the 2 and the 5. They need a shooter, like Barry, to stretch defenses and they need a shot blocker and good post defender. JR Smith and Arvydas Macijauskas are going to be traded this offseason-period. If the Spurs are interested then they could easilly get them. PJ Brown said that he wants to be traded and would like it to be a contender.
The trade makes perfect sense.

LOS ANGELES - PJ Brown may have played his last game for the Hornets Wednesday, when they ended the season with a 115-95 loss to the Lakers.
Brown, a 13-year NBA veteran, said he's strongly considering retiring after next season. And if next year should be his last, Brown said he wants a chance to win a championship, something the Hornets aren't expected to be competing for any time soon.
"It's been a successful year," said Brown, 36, who has one year left on a contract that pays him $8 million a season. "But going into the last year of my contract not knowing if I'm going to play past next year, I got some things I got to think about as far as my future.
"I just got to think long and hard if I'm going to play my last year with the Hornets."
Brown, the team's captain, is the longest standing Hornet, dating to the 2000-01 season when the team played in Charlotte, N.C. He said he is confident that after six years in which he's missed only 17 games, the franchise would accommodate his request to end his career the way he'd like.
"I've been here six years and it's been a good relationship between myself and the Hornets," Brown said. "I got a lot of great friends and people that I've made good relationships with. I'm just going to do some soul-searching and just see if this is going to be my last go-round with the Hornets? That's something I just don't know and can't answer."
The Hornets finished 38-42 -- a 20-win improvement on the previous season. They hung in playoff contention until Saturday, but a 8-20 mark since the All-Star break revealed the team's rebuilding project is far from complete.
As of late Tuesday night, Hornets general manager Jeff Bower was unaware of Brown's feelings, and he declined to comment specifically until the two parties spoke directly.
But Bower did say the team would likely explore trade opportunities to make the 6-foot-11 forward happy if he voiced his concerns to the Hornets. The team would do so primarily because of Brown's six-year allegiance, coupled with his track record for professionalism, which has established him as one of the league's most respected players.
"But at this point I haven't had any discussions with PJ about his future," Bower said. "We'll have a discussion at the proper time and through the proper channels of communication."
Brown, though, has repeatedly called this season the most difficult of his 13-year career.
A native of Slidell, La., Brown is one of the few Hornets who resided in Louisiana year round. Hurricane Katrina's fury affected him more than anyone else on the team.
For the first time in Brown's career, he was separated from his wife and four children after Katrina uprooted the team to Oklahoma City and his family to a Houston suburb.
In mid-November, Brown's mother-in-law passed away, causing him to miss two games. Because the Hornets lack a true center, Brown, a natural power forward, has also been forced to play out of position at center for the second straight season. For much of the season, he has had to play more minutes than he'd prefer.
"From a mental standpoint, there have been times I haven't been able to focus like I want to because there's been so many things going on off the floor," Brown said.
Brown entered the season finale averaging 8.9 points and 7.3 rebounds, his lowest totals since 2001-02, his second season with the Hornets.
"It's a 50-50 chance that I might not play past next year, and if it is my last year, I want to at least have a chance to go deep into the playoffs," Brown said.
"I'm not in year seven. Year 14 could be my last year. A lot of things go through your mind. You're doing a lot of reflecting. You're thinking about the past, you're thinking about the present and you're thinking about the future.
"When you're a player in my stage of my career, things like that go through your mind. If next year was to be my last year, I just want to make sure next year is the best year I could possibly have."
So he didn't ask to be traded.
If he was offered a spot on the Spurs roster (even as a deep reserve) do you think he'd turn it down judging by that article?

maybe he didn't come out and say, "trade me" but he made it clear he would like to be on a contender which the hornets are not.

Ok, no he never said, "I WANT TO BE TRADED." But the team is going to explore trade options and if they find a potential spot for him in San Antonio then I'm pretty sure he'd make that comment official. He has expressed concerns though and it is likely that comment is just a matter of time.

It's just as likely he waits for the draft and the beginning of free agency when the Hornets could pick up a max free agent without dumping Brown.

This years free agent pool is without many good 2 guards that are outside scorers. Some, like Jason Terry, are available but likely won't leave their current situation. Also, theres a fair number of bigmen, but most are 4's (Al Harrington and Drew Gooden). The only viable options at the 5 are really Nazr Mohammed and Nene (who is restricted and has expressed a desire to stay in Denver anyways).

A rookie then? The Hornets do have two first round picks because of the Jamaal Magloire trade. Unfortunately they're drafting 15th and probably 12th (depending upon the lottery). This year's draft is considerably weak considering the high school crop has to spend a year in college (Kevin Durant, Greg Oden) and college players have decided this is the year to stick it out another year(Big Baby Davis and Joakim Noah). It's doubtful that this depleted class will let much slide as far as 12 or 15.

N/M, it doesn't matter. The only thing thats significant is PJ Brown would be more than willing to spend a year in San Antonio if he was pretty sure the Spurs would take him in a trade. And the Hornets would be more than willing to move him in order to free up another 8 million, acquire a shooter and center, move 2 other problem players and assist in developing Brandon Bass.
It would matter if he has a no trade clause, otherwise the decision isn't his.

But if he wants the trade the Hornets will try and find one that suits him. Hes been in Charlotte/New Orleans/Oklahoma City so long and is very beloved by the team staff and fans. If he wants this trade they will try and make it happen. Besides, he has significant value if only because of his expiring contract. Plus he kind of gets in the way of what they're doing. Why wouldn't they do it?
