What will happen with center P.J. Brown?

Brown could be a player, packaged with a draft pick, in a trade. The Hornets love P.J. Brown. Oklahoma City loves P.J. Brown. New Orleans loves P.J. Brown. But Brown, who will make $8 million next season, is in the final year of his contract. And he said he is "50-50" that next season could be his last. And of course, he would like to go out as an NBA champion. The Hornets could deal the 36-year-old for a younger starter, but they would have to find a team that wants a quick fix at center or power forward -- playoff-bound Dallas, Denver, San Antonio and Memphis are possibilities. But Scott would love to keep Brown, and his goal is to cut his minutes from 32 minutes per game to 15 to 20. That would mean they need another post to fill the minutes.

spurs do a sign and trade with nazr
ofcourse nazr has to agree to it

how will they get jr smith?

Don't see this happening. How tall is Brown? I don't think he has Nazr's defensive ability.

no i think they should just simply resign him. hes fairly young and he can score and rebound. something rasho sucks at. the spurs are already a pretty old team. they dont need someone who is 36 or 37 years old who is gonna retire in a year or two anyway. if van exel is gonna retire like he said then i think they should just worry about adressing there backup point guard spot unless beno is ready.

He turned down San Antonio before and Rasho was signed shortly afterward. His wife didn't want to move the family from New Orleans at the time. I wonder if she still feels that way, now.

Rasho. Give him away and get rid of that contract. That would be so awesome. Get rid of Rasho as a player and get of that crazy contract. Sign Nazr to a decent contract and have Brown as a backup.

Do you really think that Nazr's asking price this summer will be less than what we're paying Rasho now?

Why would NO/OKC even want to do this? If they want Nazr, they can just sign him. I also can't really see any reason to bring in Brown in the last year of his contract. The reason you do that is to trade away a longer deal. You really want an $8M PJ Brown? No thanks.

Scott want to get rid of Smith and Macijauskas (just read at an article posted few days ago about that). Barry has been very good since the trade failed : his trade value is higher than in february. I see no reason for NO not to do again the Barry for Smith/Macijauskas.

The PJ Brown for Rasho swap : if Brown want to be traded to a contender, it's not a bad deal for Hornets. Rasho is a solig defender and Hornets need a big body to play with West. Hornets have 2 first round picks and will likely draft a center like O'Bryant : Rasho can be the starting center until he is ready. Rasho deal isn't that bad for a center (3 years $23.5M) and the advantage towards signing a vet center via FA to a 5 years deal is that Rasho's contract will be finished when Paul and the rookies drafted this year will get an extension.

I reckon that I'm optimistic but it makes some sense for NO and Spurs can add some incentives like picks or draft rights to euros.

Spurs dump their two bad contracts, get a one-year stop gap at the 4/5 until Mahinmi is ready, and finally get that mythical young, athletic wing. Macijauskas is throw in with potential for dividends. Add Scola and maybe picks + cash and hopefully the Hornets bite.

    Do it RC.

Brown on D makes Nazr look like a girl. He's a chippy mofo, having played for Riles like our own BB. He's an ending contract and a great stopgap option until Ian is ready. If they want Nazr, they can have him. He's not a fit here. Or, you let him walk, trade Rasho, and bring over one of Ian or Javtokas for spot minutes.
