I thought it was borderline...definitely not something they'd call at that point in the game though...

Tim did move, but SO WHAT. The Kings had the refs calling EVERYTHING for them. They need to STFU and deal because they had a 38-24 advantage going into overtime at the free throw line.
I don't understand why people point to # of FT's when talking about how officials call the game??!! The Kings got called for 29 fouls and the Spurs got called for 28. Seems pretty even to me?

Too many variables involved with # of FT's that come out of those fouls to only look at the # of FT's...

Sacramento will have all the intangible mental advantages--return of Artest, played well in game 2, "we wuz robbed", must win, etc--in Game 3.

The Spurs have the advantage/disadvantage of being up two games which can affect their mental outlook positively or negatively. Let's see if they have the killer at ude of champions this year.
Sac. doesn't have any mental advantage. They know they will not get another game from Martin or SAR like the last one. And more than likely with Artest on the court will not get another game from Wells like that either. They know they gave their best shot and they still lost with the Spurs playing soft and sloppy. They now have the mentality of the guy who punches another guy in the face as hard as he can, and that guy doesn't even flinch. They know their best shot isn't good enough this year. No advantage there. Without Artest they played TEAM basketball and spread it around. SAR, Wells, Martin had 28, 27, 26. That's not happening again and they know it.

Something about "mental advantage" and "return of Artest" just doesn't work for me.

Ahh, Cubo the Crybaby. That guy should be in a starbucks somewhere... not running an NBA team. And the team cries as much as he does.
A man after my own heart.

Hey, Cubes prolly DOES "run" the Mavs from a Starbucks. He basically only responds to interview questions via e-mail anyway.

    Your thoughts?

    ---------
That late screen by Duncan that caught and buckled Mike Bibby while Barry dropped in the crushing three? Still bugs Adelman.

"I wasn't going to say anything (initially), but it was illegal," Adelman said. "That's supposed to be illegal. But we can say it's our fault. We should not have been in the position to get picked. That was our big mistake."

It was an illegal pick, but they didn't call it, so what are you gonna do? There's no point in complaining. Bibby's an idiot for letting someone get between him and Brent anyways.

90% of NBA picks are illegal with some movement. By NBA standards that pick was textbook perfect.

ehhh, it was fine on the initial contact, but then he stuck his leg out and leaned into him to stop him from even getting close. That's where it becomes illegal. But they aren't going to get bailed out in that situation. Adelman is an idiot for not telling each person to ignore everyone else and just stick to their own man. What harm would have been done if Manu scored that layup? None.

I thought that it was said that he did tell them to stick to their man. It was simply a player error on Bibby's part. And as for the screen it was clean IMO. Nothing more nothing less.

I guess we can pretend perennial DPOY candidate Mike Bibby would have gotten there and blocked the shot too.

Duncan leg was already out he didn't move it. He may have leaned to his left but you could make just as good an argument that Bibby running into through his balance that way. But like I said you call that a foul and you have to call 90% of picks a foul and 100% of Ben's.

Don't want to post the footage here but here is a link to another site that shows the play.

Not to be homerish, but Magic Johnson and the TNT crew agreed it was nice and legal.. to Adelman. Ha-Ha.

Besides, you could argue the damage was already done after the initial contact. Then Bibby on the floor was already colliding with Duncan and both were "moving" from the contact. It wasn't too obvious. Bibby falling for it and realizing " !!" his error, just made Duncan's hard screen look bad--and Bibby's case somewhat sympathetic from the Kings POV.

But Bibby wasn't holding onto Brent anyway, so Adelman shouldn't be whining about the screen even if he ran at Barry, Barry would have got it off in time.

    It was a good no-call.

Probably an illegal pick by the letter of the rules, but a suprisingly clean one given the situation. He didn't hold or push Bibby, which is more than you can say for about half the picks set these days.

The pick wasn't any worse than Raheem's push off (holding Duncan down) with the off hand as he made his last shot to give Sac. the advatage. When that I happened I figured the officials were going to let the players decide the outcome to a fault. If you think the pick was illegal and the officials didn't call it then they did their job because it made them consistent.

Actually I believe the extra leg by Duncan has been shown conclusively to be what cause the shot to not be a swish, so it actually helped the Kings.

The pick aside, it was still a very tough corner shot for Barry because of the situation. No three is automatic, but that one is much easier to make in the 1st than with the game on the line in the 4th. It had some magic dust on it, but still a great shot at a critical time in the game. Besides, I can't figure out what Bibby was doing that far in the lane. He completely lost sight of his man, and that is a big NO NO.

Exactly right. If they were going to swallow their whistles for the obvious clear out they aren't going to let Bibby flail his way into drawing a very questionable foul

You don't hear the great coaches complain about alleged missed calls by the ref. I know he's fighting for his job and all, but just take it like and man and say we gave it our best effort but came up a little short.

    No excuses.

Used to be. About the time he started whining to the media is about the time I stopped thinking he was a great coach. Maybe the reason he felt he had to start whining to the media is because he was less effective as a coach.

so what if it was out? you still cant set picks with your leg. he also gave Bibby a bit of a push. and Bibby tried to spin around him, so im not sure where you guys think he just ran into Duncan. look again, but before doing so, get that homeristic point of view out of your head.

Practicing whining already for the next series?

No jackoff Mavs fan should ever complain about picks since moving screens are what the entire Mav's offense and Dirk are built around.
