damn , timvp really does love him some mailk huh?
well - if we could have a player back for just this series - yes, I would choose mailk.
You're right -- they started winning championships after he left.

Malik had a stretch this year where he was starting, putting up double-doubles and the Knicks were winning. Then Larry Brown mixed up the lineup and they went back to losing.
I'd trade Nazr and Rasho for David Lee right now. The guy is quick, can run, can jump and would be perfect against the Mavs. And David Lee is a very average player : rebounding isn't enough.
The Spurs have no mobile power forwards on this team.
I love wins.
The face Dirk is making in this picture? looks to be photoShop material

It'd be nice if a current Spur fought for rebounds.
Is this Manu's brother?
VINNY!
It's the other way around. The Mavs had to build their team to stop the Spurs. That's what the lakers did in '04 to stop the Spurs.
I'm sure there will be heated discussion this summer about the center position. I for one advocate a solution not involving Nazr or Rasho. A complete renovation. More to come.
A free Philly Steak N Cheese sandwitch can do that to a person![]()
I wholeheartedly agree. Malik was a nice fit in SA and a player who would show up for the postseason. His series against the Mavs in '03 was nothing short of spectacular for a Spurs reserve. Now the Spurs are stuck with a center they can't wait to get rid of (and who was never going to be a Spurs past the end of his current contract).
As for Devin Brown, he'd definitely be a nice fit in this series. At least you would have one more player on the bench, someone more useful than Udrih.
Whats the point of this?
As long as we're playing what if, I wish we had Claxton back. That would beat the out of Van Exel or Beno.
Yep, two games![]()
Malik has been horrible with New York this year.
4.4 pts/3.6rbds in a 23 win team.
Just face it, Our Malik has died after the 03 le.
Lee is an average defender (that's why Malik was the starter this year) and a weak offensive player.
Tons of player could have help us way more than Lee against the Howard/Dirk matchup.
Since the start of the season, a lot of people have agreed that we needed a SF/PF on this team, it's not new.
His net cost would be about $15-16M, after luxury tax considerations. Knock yourself out.
Let's see. Malik played over 30 minutes four times. In those four games he had double-doubles in all of them. The Knicks won three of the four games.Yep, two games

Malik has always sucked if he doesn't get regular playing time. But give him a role and you have a player who will die for a win.
Are you counting Nazr and Malik on the same team?
that we could use Malik right about now. and we could have used him during the kings series.
Learn from mistakes. Planning on how to construct this team for the future.
It turns out having a mobile, undersized power forward who can rebound isn't the worst thing in the world.
Malik's a burden but Rasho and Nazr are clearly valuable right now. Yeah.
pj tucker anyone?
Pinching pennies when you're trying to win more championships isn't a good policy. It's time for Holt to move some more Cats.
PJ would come ultra cheap and he's basically a malik rose clone
hey as long as it keeps you out of the fridge, it's doing some good. .![]()
