Has Kevin Kaster even come in to see the evidence posted in this thread....
Is there a way to tell who sees a thread? Kori?
The only reason I posted this thread was to get people to realize how underrated Robinson was as a player.
Not just to demonstrate that Shaq wasn't as dominant as ESPN or TNT make him out to be... Do opposing defenses have to change their strategies when facing the Diesel... sure they do. But that's only a credit to his size, and his tendency to linger around the basket... not to the fact that he was amazingly skilled 'ala Olojuwon or Robinson. But the latter two players don't seem to get near as much credit for their accomplishments, because of their inherent humility, which I find a wee bit unfair.
It's our job to let the younger generations know how Robinson's life should go down in the NBA history books.
One last thing.... Robinson left the NBA as a champion, even though he might not have been at the top of his game. I doubt this will hold true for Shaq....

Talent doesn't mean . Otherwise guys like isiah rider, Earl Boykins would be some of the top guards. If Boykins was blessed with some height he would be a stud, but he's not. As much as guys like Drob were freaks of nature, so is Shaq. You just don't see guys that huge being that explosive. If i'm choosing between Drob and Shaq in their prime, no question i'm taking shaq. That may very well be because of the rules slanted towards him but that goes with his game. What i don't understand is why charactor is even a part of this conversation. That's like going to the racetracks and getting your ass handed then saying "But mine cost less". Another thing about the whole Hakeem situation, i know before when the whole KG/TD arguement gets going there was lots of people using the Hakeem/Drob example, how Hakeem just always had David's number, now its reversed? Great power players have unstoppable moves, shaq's two handed gorilla dunk, Hakeem's dream shake, Kareem's skyhook. What was David's?
Why would you try to compare Isaiah Rider's or Earl Boykins' talent against David's. They are on two separate playing fields.
Earl Boykins has an inconsisent jumper... and manages to look good because his height (and thus lower center of gravity) make him more agile than the tall trees around him (granted you need a certain level of athleticism to even play in the league).
You would bring up "class" as a factor that doesn't matter becuase your boy KG has already shown that he lacks it (punching teammates--- where's the sportsmanship in that?). In fact it is much harder to have a clean slate as a player than to not have one. Why demerit David for this? Again the culture prefers those players with a rebellious slant against society. Conversely, the same culture can't stand for someone who shines becuase of the way that they conduct themselves.
For a man his size, David could flatout outrun anybody on the court. He didn't need a notorious "special move" to free himself from defenders because he liked dunking off of the fastbreak. David had excellent footwork similar to, but not matching, Hakeem's (remember Hakeem was a soccer player before playing basketball). David in his prime was far more versatile than Shaq... that's why talent -- (the understanding of the game of basketball) cannot go by the wayside.... AGAIN, Look for yourself, look at the boxscores... they are self evident.
Shaq's gorrilla dunk.... Please!!!... half of them are offensive fouls.
