he wants to win for himself dude not DAllas, hes extremely ego-centric and cares only about himself.Dont confuse the fact that you are benefitting from that as proof that hes a fellow fan and cares about the little guy yadda yadda
You do realize that he holds about 15-20 seats a game near courtside and gives them to fans with "nosebleed seats" every game right. You do realize he gave every fan in attendance a voucher for free airfare. You do realize that about 3-4 times a year the upper deck gets free concessions. You do realize that he arranges for "the little guy" to attend free basketball seminars, clinics and expos right. He does a lot more than these little nonpublicized tidbits. I'd say he is a great owner for the common fan.

I seem to remember spurs fan talking this same kind of crapola after game one of the last series too. How did that end up again?

Nice fall back. Of course, when that same line was used by mavs fans a week ago they were summarily dismissed. You are correct though...we shall see.

I was told he does not PAY for those seats. So, how does this make HIM a hero? It's coming out of team/facility revenues, nothing out of Cuban's personal pocket.

You do realize he gave every fan in attendance a voucher for free airfare.
No, he did not. American Airlines gave out those vouchers, Cuban just let the media give him credit for it without clarifying things. Pretty typical for him as far as I can tell.

The Spurs, as most other teams, do this stuff, too; it's pretty common. Most of the time, it comes out of team revenues, or from individual players. I'm not saying that Cuban is not a philanthropist, it's just that I have serious doubts as to how much this kind of stuff actually COSTS him; if he pays for ANY of it personally, it's because it's a tax write-off, that's all.

So far, I'm not impressed with your Cuban story...next?

You aren't impressed because your facts are wrong. But let's not allow that little fact to get in the way of your rose colored glasses or anything. And saying that Cuban isn't affected by using team resources is pretty...well....stupid.

its a publicity stunt,he has to do something. How you can defend a big jerk like cuban is why you are despised.I mean if I had a s like that for my owner I wouldnt defend him and the fact that you do means your not right in the head.Love your team but your owner is a joke

Which facts are wrong? And where did I say "that Cuban isn't affected by using team resources"? And what does that mean, anyway? I SAID the team pays for stuff and Cuban accepts the glory for it.

Lemme give you an example,Im a Lions fan and we have the biggest piece of crap owner in the NFL in Bill Ford.Hes a tight wad who just doesnt care about winning.I pray every year that he sells the team but I still love the team. Now Cuban loves to win and will spend money to win,but not for you fans, not for the city of Dallas but for himself so he can party on his little rich boy yacht and be like WOOHOO LOOK AT ME.His antics cant be justified and make him look ridiculous, you cant defend that. You could find a perfectly sane owner for your team that would do every bit of the good things as cuban but none of his antics, because unfortunatly those out weigh his merits

Cuban made a huge offer to Nash and walked away thinking they had a deal. Dirk was even on his way to Dallas to be at a presser for his good friend. Nash then took the money and ran. The Nash departure is hardly on Cuban. He cose a different deal. More power to him and he is a of a player. The reason he isn't beloved in Dallas is because he ran like the little money grubbing canadian biotch he is for more money. The funny thing is, he failed to factor the Arizona state income tax into the equation and the Dallas deal would have actually made more financial sense. So Nash can suck it. If he wanted to leave.....good riddance. It worked out well for him and Dallas in the long run.
Nash allowed the Mavs to match the Suns offer... Cuban said no. So in turn they signed Dampier to a longer contract for almost the same amount of money. That sure worked out for them!

How can you make the comparison of Cuban and Ford. Cuban has built a competetive team that wins every year. That's why we appreciate him. The last time the lions won was in the Roman Collisium.

Let us get some things right.

From Cuban's blog, he offered Nash 4 years @ 9 million = 36 million dollars

Phoenix offered Nash 6 years total = 66 million, final year, 50% guaranteed.

Cuban signed Dampier to 7 year, 73 million dollar contract.

Yup, that is looking good. Only 5 more years to see how the Damp one plays out, but hey, he may get back up to his contract year stats by year 7.

Amazing how Dallas fans hate on the players after they leave. Nash is amazing, plain and simple. That's all their is to it. If this was the Spurs and they'd done this, I'd be calling for Holt's head. Boy, Cuban really feeds the crap well, and the sad part is y'all buy it.
YOU KNOW I WAS JUST SITTING HERE READING ALL THIS CRAP ABOUT NASH FROM ALL THE DALLAS FANS AND MISSALLTHAT YOU COULDNT OF SAID IT ANY BETTER. DALLAS FANS ARE TERRIBLE LOL. OK SO LET ME GET THIS STRAIGHT MICHAEL FINLEY IS A TRAITOR NOW BECAUSE HE GETS CUT BY CUBAN??? AND AS FAR AS THE SUNS BEING IN TROUBLE WITH NASH'S CONTRACT IN THE NEAR FUTURE, I THINK MARK CUBAN IS MORE VULNERABLE TO HAVE FINANCIAL PROBLEMS. DOESNT HE OWE FINLEY LIKE FIFTY TWO MILLION? AND ON TOP OF THAT HE STILL OWES THE LEAGUE MONEY FOR ALL HIS FINES WITH THE OFFICIALS.

We have had perfect owners in the past....Don Carter, even Perot. That got us squat in the win column. Give me Cuban any day....with all his foibles.

You pay a different scale for big men. Plus, the Damp signing transformed the team into a more traditional style allowing the Mavs to leave small ball...a Nellie gimmick that works well in the regular season and fails harshly in the playoffs.

Maybe Cuban should buy the Lions. Then you will learn to appreciate wins.

WAIT A MINUTE NOW MARK CUBAN BUILT A COMPE IVE TEAM TRUE! BUT WINS WHAT EVERY YEAR? I MEAN WHAT EXACTLY ARE THEY WINNING? GET BACK TO ME ON THAT ONE, CAUSE AS FAR AS I KNOW THE MAVS AINT WON NOTHING. LIONS YEA YOU'RE RIGHT THEY'VE BEEN TERRIBLE FOR THE PAST GOD KNOWS HOW MANY YEARS BUT THE MAVS JUST STARTED GOING TO THE PLAYOFFS LIKE FIVE YEARS AGO. THEY'VE ONLY BEEN A COMPE IVE TEAM FOR FIVE YEARS IN THEIR FRANCHISE HISTORY. SO BAD THAT ITS A REMARKABLE ACCOMPLISHMENT TO ALL THE DALLAS FANS THAT THEY FINALLY BEAT THE SPURS.

the mavs got their postseason success vs san antonio reverting to a more nellified lineup, and phoenix has been in the WCF 2 years running with a non-traditional lineup.

yeah because he would automatically make them better. snyder tried the same in the NFL, and it hasn't quite worked out for him yet, although he is getting closer.

Ask the 2004 Lakers how much beating the Spurs meant.

It sucks for the Spurs, but I guarantee Karl Malone didn't join the Lakers to get a "I beat the Spurs" ring.

It seems most of you are more sad to have lost to the mavs than I am happy to have beaten the spurs. I hope the mavs keep winning. That's all I'm saying. For fans whose team consistently lost for years, winning means forward movement. For now, I will continue to watch the mavs move forward.

That makes sense. I remember in 2003, I was so happy when we beat the Lakers... 2 years of getting our ass kicked by them made that victory all the more sweeter. I'm sure Mavs have similar emotions...

But all those feelings of happiness lasted exactly until the Mavs beat us in Game one in 2003. That's the thing about Basketball: you're never satisfied. Even after winning 3 Championships, we still want more.

But I'll tell you this: losing this year will just make winning next year that much better!

If your throwing jewelry around, how about a "I beat the suns ring". The spurs ring has already lost it's value.
