Thanks for posting this. Although I'm in Brazil, I'm having my Mom in San Antonio record them for me. I'm especially looking forward to watching the entire 1999 game!!!

This is why we are so confused. Both game 6, both come from behind wins in the 4th.
Actually, the four 4th quarters the Spurs played in their 4 closeout games in that run were all pretty remarkable.

*the 19-0 run in the 4th Quarter of Game 6 of the Finals

*the 23-0 run in the 4th Quarter of Game 6 of the WCF

*a 32-13 pasting of the Lakers in the 4th Quarter of Game 6 of the WCSF

*the Stephen Jackson and Manu Ginobili show in the 4th Quarter of Game 6 in Phoenix.

IIRC, all of those 4th quarters are available on the 2003 championship DVD. Good times.

Once again we have Steve Kerr winning game 6 single-handedly. Sorry to ruin the fantasy peoples, but as previously proven, it wasn't Kerr who brought us back:

    http://www.spurstalk.com/forums/show...&postcount=141

    Exactly.

Spurs were down by 12 in the fourth.

Manu hits a three -- down by 9
Jackson hits a three -- down by 6
Jackson hits a three -- down by 3
Kerr hits a three -- tied
    Kerr hits a three -- +3
    Kerr hits a three -- +6

So yeah, Kerr hit some big shots but the Spurs were already all the way back in the game. Plus there was still half the fourth quarter yet to play.

They were big shots but those two minutes of action has him up there with Gervin, Robinson and Duncan somehow.

I think the point is that Kerr energized that team. The 23-0 (!!!) run started when Kerr checked in. He did more than make some key threes, to, I believe. Didn't he break up some Mavs plays as well?

The Spurs looked headed back to the SBC Center for a seventh game when Dallas jumped out to a 15-point lead midway through the third quarter. Said Speedy Claxton: "I was like, 'Damn, we messed up again.'"

By then, Popovich had already benched Parker, sitting him for good less than two minutes into the second half. With less than four minutes left in the third quarter, Popovich called on Kerr.

"The Coach of the Year," Nick Van Exel said, "made a great subs ution. He brought in the Zone Buster."

Kerr quickly hit his first 3-pointer, but the Spurs were still down 12 with 10:40 left. Manu Ginobili then made a 3-pointer from the left wing. Jackson followed with another. After Ginobili stripped Finley, Jackson pulled up on the break to swish one more 3-pointer.

The Spurs leaped off the bench, the crowd went quiet, and Mavericks coach Don Nelson signaled for a timeout.

The Spurs weren't done. Kerr tied the game with another 3-pointer. When his defender again left him, he swished another. Duncan followed with a hook. Van Exel left Kerr, who thanked him by drilling one more three, stretching the Spurs' lead to 79-71 with 5:13 left and forcing the Mavericks to call another timeout and abandon their zone.

"I didn't say anything," Kerr said. "I was too shocked I got in the game."

Kerr did more than help the Spurs with his shooting. He tapped out two rebounds and played solid defense.

"A lot of people don't know I was the Masterlock Defender of the Year in the sixth grade," Kerr said. "Apparently the Mavericks weren't aware of that. They were going at me."
On top of this, it's Steve ing Kerr. The guy who was collecting rust on the bench. Manu's and Jackson's threes were expected. Is it fair? No.

But in basketball, the story is about the unusual. And What Kerr did that night was well beyond unusual, it was astounding.

Jackson was awesome. And not only in this game, throughout the Playoffs, when the Spurs needed a clutch 3, Jackson was there. But the story that night was Steve Kerr hitting those threes, just because he hadn't done it in so long.

If you reverse the situation, have an old Jackson sitting on the bench, while a young Steve Kerr is out there, and you bring Jackson in and he scores 12 points in 13 minutes... don't you think the story would be about Jackson, the unsung hero? It's not about race, it's about the situation.

I have game 6, the Kerr game on DVD, hit me up if interested in a trade. Kerr actually hit a 3 pointer near the end of the 3rd quarter of Game 6 to trim the deficit from 13-10. That was his first of 4 triples.

Anyway, the key point here is in a 23-0 pt run, Kerr made more than half the points.

At least give him some credit for it. The other guys get credit everynight...

Kerr gets credit for coming through when the spotlight was on, but the Spurs wouldn't have been in that position and wouldn't have won that game without the exploits of Stephen Jackson. Kerr was 4-4 during a big run, but Jackson was 5-7 for the night from behind the arc and gave a team that was without Tony Parker and dealing with a struggling Speedy Claxton a huge 44 minutes and a game high 24.

That 2003 team doesn't win a le without Stephen Jackson.

Absolutely. It was also Kerrs feeding the ball into Duncan properly, which the other Spurs guards were choking away all night leading to numerous turnovers. He also had some key assists. Watch the game those of you who did not or do not remember, Kerr was the momentum changer. Also Kerr was NOT going to be put in the game by cementhead Popavich. It was only due to injury that he got put in. Watch it 1st if you want to spout and argue about it.

Steve Kerr did more in that game than hit triples.

I remember him feeding the ball into Tim alot better than the other guards had all night b/c the Mavs stratagy was to front tim.

I also remember a play when he dove and saved a ball from going out of bounds, he was a momentum changer...

Watch the 03 DVD again peoples...
