I agree -- they had to do everything they could to convince LeBron that they were surrounding him with a team that could contend.
Those contracts are horrible, though -- truly Knicksworthy.
Quoted for truth.
He's an okay defender but all this talk about his D stems from his misleading steals average that he pads by cherrypicking at the passing lanes. Coach Pop would blow an artery if he pulls that bull in San Antonio.
That, and he's grossly overpaid, injury prone and does too many Stephen Jackson-esque idiot mistakes.

If the Spurs acquire a 27 year old perimeter player it will be Jumaine Jones.
If we're dead set on getting someone who makes "Stephen Jackson mistakes", I'd rather it be Stephen Jackson himself. He's got the size we're looking for, and balls the size of coconuts in clutch time.
I'm not a fan of Larry Hughes game. He doesn't impress me any way I look at him.
Somehow I always wondered if his 'clutch shooting' was about having 'balls the size of coconuts', or a coconut for a head...
Oh well, I suppose they usually go hand and hand...
I think it's a matter of having no fear, Ariel. Whether that's due to lack of a brain or not, we may never know. All signs indicate that may be the case, though.
First, he's overpaid.
Second, he's not a good fit for the Spurs. We need a three, Hughes = not a three.
