Just on hoopshype and yea i know thats not to reliable a source but they have on there that the Cavs might be looking to trade Larry Hughes, now i know he is a guard but he is a long guard that might be able to play a SF spot. Also on the same site had that Jason Terry is looking for a 6 yr contract from the Mavs, and it also had that Cuban doesn't like to give contracts out that long term..........oh well just a thought. but to be real i really wouldnt want Terry on our team.![]()
Awesome player.
He doesn't mind not being the main guy either. I'm not sure where he would fit in though. He's a point, maybe a 2. You can't groom him to replace Bowen...we'd be way too small.
I guess the only option would be to play him in a Speedy Claxton type role, where though he's a backup he still plays a lot of minutes...and at times put him on the court alongside Tony or Manu. I'd love to see him on this team. Great defender. Good team guy. Can explode on teams on the offensive end. Would be a good pickup.
Don't know who we would trade, though. But if it's reasonable I'd do it.
In the words of Homer Simpson "Duoh!!!!" lol yea he is a little injury prone but we really wouldnt need him to start, and he wouldnt be playing 40 mins a night like he did for the Cavs.
hoopshype is not hoopsworld, hoopsworld writes their own stories which are garbage while Hoopshype just posts links to newspaper articles which may or may not be garbage.
People always get these 2 sites confused..hoopshype.com is a good site to read, alot of bball news collected from newspapers & such across the US...hoopsworld.com is the site that alot of people discredit.
Back to Hughes..1. He just got a huge contract last season, 2. He is a SG who can play the PG position in a pinch, not a SF, & 3. He is not what we need, maybe if we didn't have Manu, but I think we have the starting SG spot locked down.
Yea he is more of a guard type but he is a loooong guard who can play really really really good defense. Hughes plays the passing lanes as well as Manu does which could spark more fast break points for the spurs. but oh well it was just a thought.
If you want Hughes, go for Ricky Davis from Minnesota. He's just as good, comes for half the price, and will play in twice as many games every year.
Hughes is an enormously overrated defender and an injury waiting to happen.
Ricky Davis?
I don't know...if he's all that's available I'd rather get a big, or a backup PG.
He sucks
Larry Hughes 2006-07.......2007-08....2008-09...2009-10
Salary..........$11,172,492 $12,000,084 $12,827,676 $13,655,258

dude he can't play the 3
i would like him as a spur though, he's tight
if only we didn't have serious issues to address
I just don't see him on the spurs. I judge players by hype. And there just isn't enough hype here.
ferry take nazr and offer nazr that kind of money
come on ferry you owe it
hughes does not fit well with cavs
not sure I would want him either but fery owes it to the spurs to try to work something out
rasho and barry for him? I think the salries are close to

Due to Cleveland and San Antonio being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Cleveland and San Antonio had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Other than
"Melvin Sanders from San Antonio
Sanders was recently signed a contract and as a result he cannot be traded until Jun 26 June, 2006." this trade would work!

I just noticed when I looked at my trade i traded all white players for black players
I asure you as a white boy that wasn't done on purpose haha
you damn racists prick!!! lol naw j/p
That's way too much for Larry Hughes. That's almost Duncan type money. (Well not quite, but more than Tony/Manu)
WTF? Did Ferry actually s out that money for LARRY HUGHES? I have trouble believing that - if i do I have lost some respect for Ferry.
No wonder he's shopping him.
Larry is a good player, he plays great defense, he`s got a good mid-range shot and he is a good assister and rebounder. But our team cannot afford him, because he is overpaid player and he earns to much money.
Word is that it was the owner's call. The Hughes deal wasn't handled by Ferry.
Word is holy that's alot to pay for a china doll role player.
Yes, in itself that wasn't a good move, much like signing Ilgauskas for a 5 years, 50M+ contract... but I have to wonder if it wasn't about them as it was about LeBron.
Maybe Danny Ferry's assessment was that the chances of keeping LeBron long term substantially increased if they provided some immediate help, that might prove a burden down the road, once they had already extended LeBron.
If the choice was between Hughes, Ilgauskas and LeBron... or eventually none, then I can understand it. If not...
