While we are talking about Wallace, how about we really just break the bank and get Shaq.

Maybe because NBA players prefer to not give up guaranteed $.
No need to give it up. Just put it somewhere else in the new (i.e., restructured) contract.

I can't see why entire players' union is involved in prohibiting a contract renegotiation of mutual consent between player and team. No consent, the contract remains unchanged.

At $4M/year highest pro average salary per player, they could be a little more flexible.

That's why it's called collective bargaining.

The league doesn't want that to change either, because if you open up contracts to re-negotiations, they can go the other way as well. Plus, then you have to start dealing with hold-outs, trade demands, etc...

I wish to announce that I am also willing to restructure my contract to get Ben Wallace.

If Ben comes, I will get double my present salary for facilitating this.

Shaq is a World Champion. Players come to him, not the other way around.

Since Detroit is interested in Nazr why don't we do a sign and trade to include Nazr, the rights to Luis Scola, and Beno Udrih for Ben Wallace.

if there is any spurs fan who wouldnt want ben wallace in SA, they must be absolutely re ed, this guy would bring an amazing defensive force to SA. spurs would have the best defense in the league, starting 3 of the best defensive players in the league, in Tim Duncan,Ben Wallace, and Bruce Bowen. only problem is the free throw shooting will suck even more than it already does. and for those of you who think Big Ben to SA is unrealistic, think again, because its a possibility. Ben obviously has serious thoughts about leaving detroit to go to another contender, because he just recently hired a new agent. but if a deal doesnt happen with the spurs and ben wallace, we could still go out and get a solid big guy. move Tim to center, and get Drew Gooden at PF. ive heard many people say that to get drew gooden would be stupid because he sucks and all this stuff, but he obviously doesnt suck if he's in the NBA,and there are alot of teams intersted in him.

for one you can suck and be in the NBA...just ask popeye jones. and for two, drew is alright. i like the cavs too, and i see drew play a lot. he doesnt mave his head into the game most of the time, but he can finish around the basket, has nice hands, and when he feels like it, plays with a lot of heart. but he has ZERO defense. so i wont really want to see him on the spurs. at least not starting
