I saw the KSAT teaser and following coverage.

I agree with everyone who said it was grossly over rated.

Nazr was taken out of context. They should have aired the question he was answering.

    He's right.

I like Nazr, in fact...I'm looking for a Mohommed jersey in silver/black. Anybody wanna' hook it up?

I actually saw someone with one during the season. I remember because I was pretty surprised about it, which in retrospect I guess is kind of mean.

Anyway I am guessing that they had it specially made. The only jerseys I have seen a lot of in stores are Timmy, Tony, and Gino's. I think I have seen Bruce's in a few places.

Here's the video of what Nazr said on WOAI, in case anyone missed it.

If they are ing about the team lets hear it.

    them.

They had zilch to say about.
This coming from Rasho's number one pimp when the Spurs signed him and also the guy who said he would trade Manu for Nazr and Nazr would be an All-Star.

    Classic.

Remember that guy that was always in the right place, and hustled his ass off? Nazr isn't him.

Here's what you get. He gets up and down the floor pretty well, grabs some offensive rebounds, and hits the occasional mid range jumper. That's it. That's the sum and substance of his game. Oh, and he can shoot FTs, but rarely gets to the line. His post game consists of getting roofed by a guard, or fumbling the ball out of bounds.

I read this last year about Nazr - I think it was right at the end of training camp.

The article said that the Spurs were counting on training camp to really get Nazr knowledgeable about the Spurs system. When he had to leave and missed almost all of training camp, it really hampered their efforts.

Also, Nazr is a devout muslim and observes Ramadan every year. That comes during training camp. During Ramadan, muslims must fast from sunup to sundown. That must seriously affect your energy level and make it hard to really go all out in training camp. If Nazr had stayed, that would have been an issue every year.

Ramadan is a big deal, but it's not an excuse.

Hakeem somehow managed to get through it every year okay.

I wouldn't necessarily call his comments a "parting shot". He simply explained the events that took place regarding his diminished role during the season and playoffs.

But what he is saying is true. Everything was fine, the plan was that he and Rasho would compete for the job, with Nazr having the inside track and that the camp would get Nazr caught up as to how to play the Spurs system, especially the defensive end. When he wasn't there, and I might add it was for a legitimate reason his wife suffered from complications from the birth. The whole thing went south from there, when he finally got back Pop has his lineup set, and nazr was left out, but he was a regular part of the rotation, but he had too many games where he was inconsistent and unproductive. I wouldn't say he got his chance because he outplayed Rasho, but rather Rasho lack of rebounding and aggressiveness forced the Spurs to try Nazr again.

I don't think the Spurs intended to punish Nazr for going to be with his sick wife and newborn, that he left and was unable to accomplish what he needed to (getting the rotations down, etc). It was what it was and unfortunate for everyone.

Nazr makes his free throws but they are an ugly thing to see.

I saw that on the news. Don Harris hyped it up as Nazr was "trashing" the Spurs. It was far from it. Nazr was classy and just pointed out that he left training camp to take care of his sick wife and when he came back he had lost his starting spot.
I was gonna post the exact same thing right after I saw the segment on WOAI.

I do wanna add one thing:

    STFU Don "Screw You" Harris!

Nazr and Rasho both sucked. This team was going nowhere with those two as your centers.

I listened to the Presser on the radio, and thought Nazr came off very well. He was well spoken, and seemed to be a very positive person. I definetly didn't feel any slight towards SA in his comments. He did express his dissapointment in his minutes and loss of the 'starter' designation, but it was more in passing rather than a purposeful intent to and moan.

I'm glad he's a Piston. I think he may be a bit better than he was while w/ the Spurs as we should be giving him more minutes than he received in SA. Wish us luck w/ him! Hopefully he won't totally frustrate me all year long w/ his 'soft hands' ...
Hahaha! More minutes= more dropped passes
