in his press conference in Detroit. He claims everything was fine with the Spurs until he left camp to be with his wife and baby, and that it was never the same after that. As I said last week, anyone who was even remotely close to the Spurs knew he was leaving a long time ago.

I saw that on the news. Don Harris hyped it up as Nazr was "trashing" the Spurs. It was far from it. Nazr was classy and just pointed out that he left training camp to take care of his sick wife and when he came back he had lost his starting spot.

Rasho had harsher "parting shots" than that.

I knew he was gone then, too. In 2005, a lot could be written off as not knowing the team and needing a full training camp. He never got the full training camp, and never learned the system, offense or defense. The only thing that kept him in the rotation was his O glass work. EVERYTHING else about his game sucked.

I saw a different channel. Greg Simmons claimed that Nazr pointed to one single moment as the reason he left the Spurs- when he lost the starting job in training camp.

I saw Rasho's entire press conference in Toronto and listened to all his radio interviews, as well. He did not publicly say one bad thing about the Spurs. He actually went out of his way to compliment Pop. All he said about players was that playing alongside Bosh would be more like playing alongside KG than Timmy. That seems pretty obvious.

As for private comments- let's just say- they both were unhappy and leave it at that.

I watched KSAT and WOAI and they both played the exact same clip from the press conference. Simmons made it sound worse than it actually was.

Rasho said he was frustrated by not playing. While barely registering as a "parting shot", that's more of one than what Nazr said.

I would have actually been fine had we kept Nazr. I know he had butterfingers and ed up his rotations a bunch but I still feel that if he could have just played more he could have been more consistent. Oh well, thanks for helping us win a championship Nazr. Here's the 3 moments I'll remember you most for:

    1. The block against Ben Wallace in Game 7 of the Finals
    2. The crazy ass backwards scoop shot in Game 1 of the Finals
    3. The posterization of Dampier in the early March game against the Mavs

I listened to the Presser on the radio, and thought Nazr came off very well. He was well spoken, and seemed to be a very positive person. I definetly didn't feel any slight towards SA in his comments. He did express his dissapointment in his minutes and loss of the 'starter' designation, but it was more in passing rather than a purposeful intent to and moan.

I'm glad he's a Piston. I think he may be a bit better than he was while w/ the Spurs as we should be giving him more minutes than he received in SA. Wish us luck w/ him! Hopefully he won't totally frustrate me all year long w/ his 'soft hands' ...

I hope Nazr tears it up in Detroit. I was disappointed in his play last season, but he was huge in 2005... especially in the Phoenix and Denver series from what I remember.

Find me the quote from HIS press conference.

He (Nazr) did express his dissapointment in his minutes...

I think Nazr will have solid offensive numbers with consistent minutes. He's not the type of guy who can do well playing sporadically. However, he will always be what he is. With the ongoing Flipification of the Pistons, his defensive lapses won't be viewed as critically by the coaches.

Well they both are NBA champions. That is definatley a beautiful positive treasure to take with them. No one can ever take that experience from them.

Best wishes to both of them.

If you're interested, here's a audio clip from him on our local radio station this morning following the presser:

    http://www.mlive.com/pistons/audio/i...o/audio05.html

I did notice listening to it again, that he commented on SA as being a "bunch of good guys, good team, good orginization" .... and Detroit as "bunch of good guys, great team, great orginization"

But I still can't attribute that as a slight towars the Spurs. I think he was just looking for words, and trying to express his happiness on his new team.

Nazr seems like a big city guy who would never be that happy in San Antonio.

That said, he greatly helped the team win the le in '05 and always behaved professionally. I just think he was never that comfortable with the Spurs and neither he nor the Spurs made the effort to bring him into the "family." Part of it may have been because he was the guy they traded Malik for.

Thats just cuz he is talkin about his former team and his current team.

I was a big Nazr fan. But I think it will end up better if SA can somehow manage to get both Elson and Butler. I will always like Nazr (despite his faults) but once he plays against SA, hes just another opponant in my eyes. Good luck Naz.

Yes, those were great moments. Along with his play down the stretch of the 04-05 season, and his play in the playoffs, and his play in games 1 and 2 of the finals.

I dont think he will help Detroit at all though. Matter of fact, I think Detroits championship hopes are gone.
