Preseason?
Preseason?
PRESEASON?!?!?!?!
But seriously, there's no chance in Barry shoots as poorly as he has been shooting this preseason during the regular season or postseason, unless he's injured or something. Really, don't worry, the le is in the bag barring injury or the Pistons acquiring Shaq.
As the president of the national "Hug Your Local Elephant Joke Prac ioner" club, I would like to plead for calm on both sides and pray that no elephants are harmed in the making of this season.

I noticed that too. Nothing seems to get to Beno like it would with other rookies. He's fast and agressive and has no fear of the opponent. While Brent on the other hand seems like he's trying too hard to show Pop that he's good. He gets excited and careless and just chunks up shots. Hopefully he'll settle down and remember that he's a vet.
Preseason, new team, whatever, Barry is a skilled player and a veteran and shouldn't be playing this poorly. Shooting is a skill that if you have it like Barry has (50% FG, 45% 3pt), it doesn't go away overnight, outside of some head problems (a la Hedo) or injury. I'm a little concerned. He should be a good addition, but so far we've got no defense, poor decision making, and a shot so cold the other players' balls are shriveling. Sounds a lot like Hedo at the end of last season to me.
maybe he's just tired from the hard workout with the spurs. he'll get better, otherwise beno panned out ok. i hope the spurs keep up the FT% from the preseason through the regular, especially TD. That would mean 6-10 pts. more per game
One good sign is the Spurs are running plays for Barry. The have a double pick play where they run him through the lane and he pops open at the elbow. The Spurs have run it 3 or 4 times and it has worked pretty well. Of course, Barry has missed all of those shots but it is good to see that the Spurs are actually running plays for him.
That's possible but not likely. Although Brent's not in top game shape, yet, the shots he's missing aren't short. If his legs are tired from the extra effort, shots are typically short. He's hit the back iron several times.Could be that he spends so much energy trying to defend well that his shooting has suffered from it though... Only excuse I can find so far.
He's just amped, I think, and needs confidence in his new setting. Muscle memory, rhythm and flow will come with familiarity. That's all a shooter like Barry needs besides confidence.
It's been reported that Barry actually has torn cartilage in his right elbow that may require surgery. That is most likely the cause of his poor shooting.
Are you related to jimcs50?
I've heard they share the same golf tees. Are you related to jimcs50?
The information I have is obviously preliminary. Unfortunately I do not have time to confer with my sources to give you details.
I heard he got his shooting eye put out while peeping through a keyhole, watching Joe le Blon
The Spurs aren't running away from it. Tony got big laughs today at the Tip-off uncheon about their new ace sharp shooter going "3 for 60" so in pre-season games.
See, so all those comparisons to Hedo are inaccurate.
It's kinda like when Rose got his big contract and tried to do too much. Barry has never played on a quality team before and he's being lauded as the reason the Spurs will win the champioship, so he's amped and a little nervous. The Spurs are a great team even without him and as soon as he and everyone else settles down and remembers that Tim Duncan is the real reason the Spurs are the favorites this year he'll find his rhythm as the quality role player that he is and perform as such.
This team sucks
OK folks, I've finally got off my ass and made it over to this side of the forum. It's good to be here with the fandom, talkin' Spurs stuff. I'm fired up about this season.
About SJax - my main man, Sequ has great points. I can't believe the Spurs didn't sign him. He was there - the Spurs had the cash. I cursed the day they let him walk.
The guy proved his salt in Atlanta last year. He's a deadly weapon and one the Spurs sorely needed last season. His at ude, defense and of course, his dead-eye, pressure-packed shooting. The guy simply has no fear and desparately wants to win. , we won a frickin' championship with him as a starter (I love watching that 2003 championship DVD).
I'm glad he got the BIG contract he sorely deserves. He's been gone a couple of seasons and I really miss having on board.
Having said all that, I believe the Brent Barry pickup should fill the void. While he may lack Jack's quickness, defensive skills and at ude, he probably makes up for it in court awareness, passing skills and all-around ability. Statistically, he's a better 3-point shooter and can play multiple positions including PG. So he'll give us some matchup advantages. I'll be waiting to see just how "clutch" he is.
I hope Barry wil cure my SJax hangover.
why do people think so much of sjax? honestly a 33% lifetime three point average is pretty sad for someone who is known as a "shooter". he's known as a shooter because he shoots a lot, not because he's proficient at it. And he's a Pacer now, so get over him.

I never thought I would hear "proved his salt" and "in Atlanta" in the same sentence.

Yup, makes sense.
