The Minneapolis (Land of 10000 Lakes) Lakers and the Boston Celtics had repeat NBA championships when there were regional drafts and there were less than a dozen teams. During the long Celtics run through the 60s, there were only 9 NBA teams most of the time and the West consisted of LA, San Francisco, Detroit and St. Louis.

So in the 'modern' era that means the the Showtime Lakers, Isaiah's Pistons, Jordan's Bulls, Hakeem's Rockets and the Shaq-Kobe Lakers.

Well, if the Spurs were ever to repeat as champs, it was suppose to be this past year. Couple things go the other way here and there and they'd have back-to-back les.

Actually, a couple of things go the other way here and there and you have anything between:

    a) The Spurs win 4 in a row.
    b) The Spur win only in 2003.

    Nah . . . it's because Manu screws up (remember 0.4, remember Dirk's 3 point play).
Your sig says in Manu I trust. But you say he screws up. Are you confused?

Manu is that type of player that your franchise lives and dies with.

    Come on, Chump.

The Rockets are better than the Spurs because more than 10 years ago, the Rockets were able to win back-to-back les. Though they've only won 2 championships, it should be clear to anyone with half a brain that back-to-back les are monumentally more significant than 3 les over a 7 year span. I mean, look at the Celtics of the 80's: they never repeated -- for crissakes they only won 3 les in 6 years -- and EVERYONE knows that those Boston teams couldn't hold a candle to the Rockets of 1994 and 1995.

Other teams are constantly getting better and becoming tougher compe ion. There is no easy road to a le especially when you have just won one, and you are the target of the NBA. Now why is it so hard for the Rockettes to get out of the first round? and why did they trade off their backcourt for the likes of T-mac when they were so close to making it to the finals?

Look, nobody's repeated since L.A so it's no big deal. I don't wanna start anything but my gutt feeling tells me that Miami will not repeat this coming year.

I agree that Miami won't repeat.

Remember Magic Johnson's quote to Michael Jordan?

"You think winning two is hard, try winning three".

Teams who win it all have to deal with the fact they don't ever get an off-night the following year. Every team circles every matchup with the champs on their calendar.

That being said, if Manu Ginobili didn't up, the Spurs probably would have repeat last year.
