Tonight We're drinking Margaritas with 1800 and Cointreau as well as this:

Vodka. I buy the nasty stuff because I'm a cheap bas and filter it a few times to make it slightly palatable.
Not that it matters; I only drink therapeutically anyway, not socially, and the taste is more or less irrelevant when I'm falling under the table.
saw a special on 60 minutes of primetime..whatever show like that.. anyway, they had a vodka taste test. grey goose came out last. i decided to try this out myself with a few friends(5 of us total). tried skyy, grey goose, absolut, belvedere, stoli and maybe another one... grey goose tasted like kerosene when tasted side by side with the others..
Thats kinda crazy. I like Stoli myself for Vodka.
As far as Tequila, we have a bottle of Sauza Tres Generaciones and the tequila that Melmart reccomended.
i prefer chopin myself, i think it's from the same distillery as belvedere - belvedere is their rye and chopin is their potato if i remember correctly.
I would like to do the vodka tasting at Red Square in the Mandalay Bay next time I do Vegas. I saw their vodka storage area on the Food Network, and I'd like to live there.

As far as tequila goes, my favorite has always been espolon. And as far as liquor, Johnny Walker red and neat is second to none!

Ohhh, did you try the Ciroc? Oh man, that is awesome! I would never usually drink a hard liquor other than tequila straight up or neat, but Ciroc just begs for you to do so. Methinks I am gonna buy a bottle on payday

Oh man that was priceless, all these jackasses (very similar to the people posting in this thread) talked about how they only drink their "favorite" vodka's and they were extremely confident that they could pick their's out in a blind taste test. Out of the 12 subjects guess how many picked the top shelf stuff as the number one..............zero. Guess which one they picked as the best tasting, smoothest, etc.............Smirnoff's.
Oh, and I worked at an upscale liquor store (yeah, I know, doesn't make much sense) in college, go ask someone in the "know" about the difference between Grey Goose and low end Vodka........yep, that's right, it's the fancy bottle. It's a very popular story in the Marketing industry, the founder of Grey Goose came up with the idea of charging triple of what regular vodka tastes like and all he does is distill it one extra time and dump it into a eye catching bottle.
Guess how many picked Ketel One as the best tasting.................zero.

Yep...I've tried a zillion different agave sippin tequilas and Corazon is currently the brand I pull off the shelf...
I've had better tequila from mexico, but you can't buy it here...

I saw that too. It was on 20/20. All vodka should taste the same. All vodka is is (almost) pure alcohol mixed with water. When you pay for vodka, you pay for how cool the bottle looks, and that's it.

Vodka is ing crap. I refuse to drink it in anything.
I wonder how well I would do in a blind tequila tasting. My favorites are Don Julio, El Conquistador, and Herradurra, with 1800 a distant fourth. My least favorites are Patron and regular Cuervo. I wonder how many of us are pissing our money away on premium liquors that we'd never be able to tell apart if we didn't see the label.
Filtering DOES make a difference on the taste and quality of the hangover.
Instead of paying stupid money for designer vodka, spend $25 on a brita pitcher type water filter. You can then buy the cheap rotgut vodka and run it through the Brita 2 or 3 times...comes out better and purer than the most expensive designer vodkas...
