TDMVPDPOY, your unprecedented amount of basketball knowledge has given me no other choice but to ask you to not say anything ever again.

Funny, I remember you talking about Parker last season until he owned your ass by getting into the All-Star Team...

I guess somebody's looking to get owned again this year...

Dude's pretty good. Can't really say how he would've developed in a different system, but I can say he is now a ing hoss who only needs a halfway decent pick to kick the out of opposing teams. That's nice.

I am one of the international Spurs fans, but to claim that the Spurs are more popular overseas than the Lakers is ridiculous. Casual NBA fans from around the world follow Kobe or AI (huge in Asia, probably because of his stature) - those are the two jerseys you see most outside the US. Only the hardcore fans follow small market teams like the Spurs.
Agreed, nobody gave a of the Spurs in France before TP arrived!
For example, at the Spurs game in Paris, everyone got Tony's jersey and there was just a few ones of Duncan, Ginobili!

When Manu was playing great people said "yeah, but if you take TD away, Manu would be a regular Joe", which I thought was unfair to Manu. Now people are trying to say the same about TP, and it is unfair to him.

TP is an All Star in his own right.

Oh, and TDMVPDPOY, you are a tool.

    BS as simple as that...
How can you claim something is happening in a country where you obviously don't even leave in...
IE i was following the spurs since the late 80s (yeah know i'm still young :p) and it hasn't change the face of the world that Tony got to sign there but hey i take it...
    80% doesn't mean everybody...
some like basketball, some like nationalist successfull stories.
so for peeps like me give us a break...

The guy's really really good now, but give credit where credit is due. Where did he learn to adapt the Spurs system which runs on Tim Duncan. There probably is no other big man in the league who makes his teammates better and has a better basketball IQ than the Big Fundamental. Without Duncan, Spurs would still have trouble now and maybe give up 120 PPG.

oh and while I'm not to lazy to post as i'm doing for 6months or so...i'll give my take about that.
the spurs organisation is a team, its not about tony tim manu or pop or RC its about everybody winning together or losing together.
Tony has the talent but even more the work ethic and this last thing is what he deserves credit for...
Somebody who has such a work ethic and the will to succeed will always take great teamates and championships over personnal honnors and better stats...
    Straight line to success...

Heres a question for everyone.... Timmy has had a sure in to the hall of fame for probably 2 years .
Manu has a great shot at it because of what he has done in both the international game and NBA........... Now dose TP even have a prayer even if he keeps improving his stats, it would be great for the spurs to get all three in. They probably need another championship to get it though

WRONG : IN THE EARLY NINETIES, WHEN NBA WAS ON THE FORMELY TV CHANNEL "LA CINQ", the spurs, because of David Robinson were having a regular spot...

that's how i became a fan of the spurs....

    Xap'

( OK, whole france was not whatching it, but but a few houndred of thousands, sure...)

Its to bad for Tony Parker...he was the best Spur player in last years reagular season and is agin so far this year, but because he plays with a already established superstar in Tim and an international superstar in Manu, he will probably never get the national spotlight he probably deserves. If TP were on another team with no other big stars he would be an allstar starter and a canidate for mvp, but on the other hand I guess it keeps him modest
    this thread is terrible...
in fact, I doubt, writing this, that you are a real spurs fan....

As written already, people are taking what Tony brings for granted... and that's enough as a regnonisation...

Now, we need our three stars to be in a good shape in June...

I don't like the new "Black Mama" Laker troll.

You always know when the Lakers are slightly above .500 because their fans start showing their faces again.

I still believe the Spurs have more fans. There are whole nations backing the Spurs. I dont believe whole nations love the Lakers just because of Kobe. Or whole nations are rooting the 76ers because of AI. Tony and Manu already had international fans coming into the NBA. Like you say its the casual fan that follows Kobe, but the hardcore fans that love the Spurs. But then again, i am sipping a Greygoose and cranberry and enjoying a KB bowl, so I could just be rambling. PEACE!
Not agree with you. Before the beginning of his NBA's carrer, Tony Parker was a unknown in France.
People started to talk about him when he integrates the starting five after only 5 games in the 2001-2002 season
