Its to bad for Tony Parker...he was the best Spur player in last years reagular season and is agin so far this year, but because he plays with a already established superstar in Tim and an international superstar in Manu, he will probably never get the national spotlight he probably deserves. If TP were on another team with no other big stars he would be an allstar starter and a canidate for mvp, but on the other hand I guess it keeps him modest
Yeah, it's too bad he's playing with one of the best big men in history. What?
He's already an all-star. He already has 2 rings, and he's only 24. He has plenty of time for personal accolades later.
to tell you the truth i dont give a about tp, if he had his own team he will not be successful as the spurs, replace him on noh with cp3 and that team is lottery....
i even go as far and say deron williams > tp
timduncan ftw
He would have gotten plenty of run had the Spurs gone 3-4 on les.
While I've long since given up on a repeat with Pop at the helm, Tony can still get some run if they win this year.
You sound like a Lakers fan. Terrible thread.
manu has sucked this year
even manu church is saying he is struggling
tp was not the reason spurs did not win it all last year
right now he is playing better then he did last year
the ankle injury made him struggler early with his assisst but he is doing better now
manu has not even scored 20 points in a game this season
tp is averaging more then 20 points a game
yeah tp need manu
spurs need three players to step up to win
you're still an idiot about tp, and you want to trade manu this year. stick to videogames, scrub. tp is a badass.
if tp had his own team he would be similar to kg ringless
it takes one superstar and two stars usually to win les
wow parker is probaly my favorite player in the nba but on his own team he is the most hated...sad..but i dont care who gets credit..as long as were holding up that banner come next yr...
tp is playing like a superstar so far this season
he is shooting over 50% from outside of 17 feet
compare that to any player in the nba
TP gets plenty of props. He's in the national spotlight in at least two nations - more than Timmy in fact. His picture is in the Star magazine and People magazine every other week with Eva. He's an All-Star again this year for sure outside of injury. Who cares if he gets the most internet votes as a starter?
A lot of Spurs fans are beginning to take Parker for granted like with Duncan. It makes me sick to see some stupid (TDMVPDPOY) saying he doesn't give a about TP.
He is just an amazing player. If he played 40mpg like other Top PG's on a .500 club he would likely put up something like 25/8/4.
what votes you talkin about? if your talkin about ASG votes, im pretty sure theres plenty of west pgs that will poll better than him.....
I would like you people to compare lebron james shooting to tp 's shooting outside of 17 feet
http://www.nba.com/hotzones/
coaches will vote him in
and if he keeps this up
not sure he would not start
spurs are international now and all international spur fans better vote for tp to start in all star game
I vote for manu, duncan and tp!
i think alston is goin to get in with 1 billion chinese votes.....
Well, STEVEYCU, you had two basic statements. Summarizing, you felt because Tony is on the same team with two other stars:
1) TP isn't in the national spotlight as much
2) TP probably wouldn't be voted in as an All-Star starter.
Tony has the spotlight on him now, in a fairly big way, known by more than just basketball fans due to his relationship with Eva. His playing level is so high that it becomes an even bigger deal for him, due to that recognition.
TP will need to beat out Steve Nash or Kobe Bryant in internet/fan voting in order to start. That won't be easy.
Tony is the best player wearing black and silver.
Where did you get that TP is the most hated on the Spurs team? Who cares about national recognition? The Spurs are world wide!!! At this point in time, TP is carrying the Spurs on his back. And when it is time to do so, Timmy and Manu will step up and get it done. Dont worry about the Spurs. Just sit back and enjoy the season. Hopefully when it as all said and done, we will have a 4th Larry O'Brien Trophy to add to our collection.
The Spurs are an international team if you have not taken the time to notice. They have whole countries behind them. There are Spurs fans from the Philippines to Australia to New Zealand, from France to Argentina. The whole of South America. There are millions in China who admire the Spurs, Italy, Greece, Turkey, and also German Spurs fans. Look beyond the United States and you will realize what is really up. I guarantee there are plenty more people rooting for the Spurs than for the Lakers. Its been that way for a while now. Believe it or not. Try to prove me wrong.
He is not but he is not putting up the numbers that he is now that is for sure. We probably won't know how good Tony really is until Duncan is retired and the Spurs have to decide whether they keep Tony around or rebuild through the draft again.
I am one of the international Spurs fans, but to claim that the Spurs are more popular overseas than the Lakers is ridiculous. Casual NBA fans from around the world follow Kobe or AI (huge in Asia, probably because of his stature) - those are the two jerseys you see most outside the US. Only the hardcore fans follow small market teams like the Spurs.![]()
I still believe the Spurs have more fans. There are whole nations backing the Spurs. I dont believe whole nations love the Lakers just because of Kobe. Or whole nations are rooting the 76ers because of AI. Tony and Manu already had international fans coming into the NBA. Like you say its the casual fan that follows Kobe, but the hardcore fans that love the Spurs. But then again, i am sipping a Greygoose and cranberry and enjoying a KB bowl, so I could just be rambling. PEACE!
