Duh! Every team loses, we are not deluding ourselves into thinking that we will go undefeated. I am saying that this is a team that can get to NCAAs not only as an afterthought, but as a contender to win a regional (not saying they will, but they will have a shot) When a team plays defense the way Billy's teams play, they should in theory, be in every game they play, and if they add some hot shooting (like Carter's 8-9 shooting from the arc two games ago game), they can beat any team on a given day, including LSU, Kansas and UCLA.

Um, no it won't. By the time conference starts we'll have played UCLA, LSU, Winthrop, and Auburn (loved how you skipped over Winthrop and Auburn in your bashing of our schedule - nice work BTW).

Winthrop? Are you serious? So far 2 of their 1st 6 games have been against 1AA opps, which is left out of the formula, and 2 of their next 4 will be against 1AA opps. Before they play atm, they play @ No Ill, @ Wisc, @ ECar, @ Old Dom, plus the 2 1AA opps. I hope you don't want to hang your SOS on them. For future reference: if you want to make an intelligent arguement to make it sound like you know something about SOS... don't include Winthrop.

It was already a given and metioned several times that atm is playing UCLA and LSU. I didn't need to reiterate. I did, however, talk about LSU, but I guess you glazed over that.

I also know atm plays Auburn. To be honest, Auburn sucks, and will finish near or below .500 this year, I just didn't want to bash them because OSU just beat them. They are also very poor on the SOS scale for atm, so you might want to do a little research before you attempt to talk smack. You will get no boost from Winthrop or Auburn, for certain. Also, your one 'quality' RPI win is again Saint Louis, and with the fact that they have 5 300+ and an additional 5 200+ teams left on their sched, I seriously doubt they finish there. Figured into their SOS are Xavier x 2 (#4), Richmond (#23), Missouri State (#26), La Salle (#38), Loyola, Chi (#51).

I appreciate your concern for our schedule though. As much as it was bashed last year, our final RPI ended up in the 40s, and this year we have a significantly upgraded non-conference schedule.

Your final RPI was 44 and only 4 teams with a lower RPI were selected as an at-large, which means you were one of the 'Last 5 In." Yes, agreed, that doesn't mean squat once you are in, but it means alot if you don't GET in, plus it is big for who you play and where you play.

For example, atm got a 10 seed after being 21-8 and 4th place in B12. By contrast, Wisconsin was 19-11, lost their last 3, 4th in B11, and they got a 8 seed. Boston College was 25-7, 3rd place, and got a 2 seed. Mich State was a 6th place team at 21-11 and got a 5 seed. All of the mentioned teams had RPI ratings in the Top 20, and the lowest SOS of that group was Wisc at #22. Arizona was 19-12, 4th place, and got a 9 seed with the #23 RPI and #24 SOS. atm was #44 and #35 SOS.

The entire point is that scheduling poor opps early hurts you later. Don't get all pissy and attempt to bring it hard and make yourself look silly when someone is just showing the numbers. You are trying to pull a KState, by claiming elite status beating up on nobodies. Don't get mad at me for showing it, get mad at your AD for scheduling it.

Aggie basketball has chances to beat both UCLA and LSU and I'm very happy about that. I would have loved to see them in the Maui or some other preseason tourney like that, but I don't know if they got invited and Billy declined or those tourneys wanted bandwagon teams like Kentucky, UCLA, and Duke. Either way, the school is attempting to increase the difficulty of its non-conference schedule and if Winthrop is a tournament team again this year (along with Pacific - who almost beat Boston College last year), then that looks good on the resume.

The best post of 2006. Ok State can be good playing nobody non-conference. Wait until conference play begins. A&M is a good team because they have great character from the top-down. Billy Gillespie doesn't accept anything less than 100% on both ends of the floor and does not let his men (yes, they are men) resort to anything remotely close to taunting, blaming officials, or blaming each other. Gillespie will often say things like, "we need guys to protect the ball better or we need guys who will play tough defense." But if they turn the ball over too much or shoot poorly or don't give enough effort, he'll be the first to take the blame... but I can guarantee you those guys will be running double in practice that week.

I haven't said anywhere OSU is going to be good. As a matter of fact, they aren't very good. They turn the ball over 20 times a game, got lucky to not have to play #7 Wisc in South Padre, and almost lost to a very poor Auburn team.

I merely was pointing out originally in the thread that this OOC SOS is going to hurt atm again and you girls take it so hard. It is amazing how one little breath of success in basketball has turned you all into PMSing 14-year olds. I said nothing negative about atm, yet all are all on the defensive. Sheesh grow up and read a post before you get your panties in a wad.

No, you're the girl in this thread. Our strength of schedule last season ended up at 45.

This year, we've taken away some of the weak sisters from last year and replaced them with:

#1 UCLA
#6 LSU
Winthrop (going to make the tourney)
Pacific (going to win their conference and make their tourney)
Auburn (will benefit the SOS from them being in the SEC)
Saint Louis (already defeated, will be solid in C-USA)

The facts of the situation don't match up with your take on our SOS, but I guess that's about all you OSU have to hope for these days.
