This is some funny . Snead originally committed to Florida then changed his mind when Tebow signed there. Then he couldn't beat out a 2A redshirt frosh QB once in Austin? And now he's bailing on his team before their bowl game when Colt left on a stretcher less than a week ago.

I don't give a if Jevan's a former Parade All-American or not. He's quitting on his current team when they need him now more than ever, and that shows some serious character issues. If he's worrying about transferring for the spring semester, it's not like the Horns are playing in a January bowl game. Chris Simms, also a former All-Everything high school QB, didn't transfer when he wasn't named the immediate starter over some kid with less talent that was winning games. He busted his ass in the weight room and in practice and made this same head coach make a difficult decision. (Of course, the media situation didn't hurt either.)

If he winds up at TCU (and the Star Telegram apparently thinks that's what's happening), good riddance. The Frogs play UT in Austin next year.
completly different story, chris simms was never better than Major Applewhite....Major saved our a** that year in the holiday bowl after Simms basically threw that game.....

simms beat major out fair and square, greg davis was and still is the root of most/all of UT's offensive problems. why he would run an offense designed for a weak armed qb like major when simms could air it out is beyond me.

Kwame Cavil caught a hundred balls in '99 and probably would have been a first team All-American if Mack wouldn't have made him quit.

That kid does have some great wheels, but I don't know if he's not better off being a RB who can split out and really hurt defenses. If he can make plays without fumbling (unlike our current RBs), he should be very helpful in the near future. This is going to be interesting - I don't know much about Brantley, but if McCoy returns to his form of three weeks ago this could get interesting at QB. As long as Brantley doesn't turn into a Chris Simms remix UT should continue being dominant for some time. This season was going great up until just over two weeks ago with a freshman QB, fumbling RBs, and a banged up defense. It went to in a hurry, but all indications are this is just going to be an abberation of a year. Next year UT wins the Big XII and exerts domination over OU and AM once again.

... And regarding Snead - the kid just isn't on the same level as the QB talent at UT. He had his chance and has learned he needs to be a bigger fish in a smaller pond instead of the guppy swimming with sharks that he is now.

We should use Chiles as a RB/WR combo i said. Put him at RB and throw it to him right over the line, or put him in motion and cause defenses to shift to open other up.

The dude has the potential to be one of the greatest UT recruits of all time. He better honor his ing verbal.

McCoy is overrated, look what he did against A&M. Snead will be a good college QB where ever he goes.

Former Texas Longhorns quarterback Jevan Snead will continue his career at Ole Miss, ESPN has learned.

Snead, who played in five games this season as a true freshman for UT, picked the Rebels over TCU and Houston.

"It's a great fit for me," Snead said. "I really like the coaches and the offense. Coming out of high school I really looked hard at SEC schools."

Snead said he'll report to Oxford around Jan. 15.

"I don't regret any of my time at Texas," Snead said. "I hope nothing but the best for Colt McCoy and the Longhorns. But I'm ready to follow my own dreams now."

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Texan will have three seasons of eligibility beginning in the 2008 season. Snead had been looking for a program that had a rising senior quarterback and would be looking to find a replacement for the season Snead will become eligible. He visited the Rebels' campus in Oxford over the weekend.

ESPN.com ranked Snead as the nation's No. 3 QB prospect (13th overall) in the Class of 2006. He competed for the Longhorns' QB vacancy following the departure of Vince Young, but lost out to redshirt freshman McCoy.

I'm not going to say anything else negative about Snead at this point. It must seem more appealing for the guy to battle Mississippi State for fifth in the SEC West than to challenge some 2A QB from Tuscola for the starting job at the University of Texas.

Have fun in Oxford, where the women are hot and 3-9 is an accomplishment.

When Snead did play, he didn't amaze me at all. I have liked McCoy way better than Snead.

^ I agree with ya J6 on the timing issue with Snead. Who knows? If he stays at UT and shows up big in the Alamo Bowl he could have had a shot a winning the starting QB job in the Spring, but now we'll never know. I think one major problem with big time HS recruits is that they get their ass kissed all through high school and then expect to just walk on a college team and have the starting QB job handed to them, doesn't work that way. So, have a good one Snead, you're going to have to do some amazing to even have a chance at a winning record at Ol' Miss.

Dude we should all ac ulate information on where Snead lives and send him a giant package in the mail filled with human feces

that mother er not only blew his first chance at KState, he whined like a earlier in the season for not getting enough playing time, then goes and quits on his team before the bowl season starts

    this makes no sense

god damnit i swear this is unprecedented, someone, anyone: has a freshman top 5 recruit QB quit on his team before his freshman bowl season just because another redshirt freshman has been getting all the starts??

    anyone???

    someone???

    anyone???

its ing ridiculous, i only pray to god brantley and chiles aren't such superficial stinky pussy es

god damnit i hate heads like that....you know its a family relative like a Dad that's influencing this decision 'oh son your nfl career looks better if you shine at ole miss than beat out that 2A recruit Colt at UT"
    ing ludicrous

no ing , Snead makes chris sims look like clarence bod er, sneads the pussiest 18 year old neocon piece of I ever saw lace them up, I'll never forget the feeling I got when he came in the 1st q vs kstate, Im usually pretty optomistic about young players and the bench holding their own, but the look in Sneads eye and his body language on HIS FIRST DRIVE THAT EVER MATTERED, I saw the season going right in the ter. That mecos guzzling chickenhawk was already transfered in his mind, and didnt give a about actually preparing physically or mentally and totally collapsed in his only game for texas, then guzzled more vs aTm, then the little couldnt keep his mouth shut about transferring and had to leave the team before the bowl game with a hurt starter and a walkon with zero career pass attempts. I would bet my Yamaha him and his family are conservative.
