No to MoPete, yes to Maggette, even if Spurs will need to give more things to get Maggette.

Agreed. Oddly enough though, I'm not sure the Spurs would have to give up more in order to get Maggette. Peterson holds trade value because of his talent AND because he has an expiring contract. Corey is more talented, but his trade value is pretty low at this point.

    Agree and disagree.

Expiring contracts have value for teams who wants to go under the tax to sign FAs.
In that case, the talent of the player isn't as important as the fact that he is expiring.

When a team try to get a player for his talent, the value of the player with an expiring contract is lower than the value of a player with a 1 or 2 years contract because teams aren't ready to give a lot for a six month rental. An expiring contract is a player who can leave his team in six months and it's even more the case for Peterson because he won't get more than the MLE : the team who gets him has to fight with 29 teams to re-sign instead of 3 or 4 bad teams that are under the cap for players worth more than the MLE.

Either you consider Peterson as a contract and his trade value isn't higher that Danny Fortson trade value or you condider him as a talent and his trade value is way lower than Maggette trade value (Maggette is better and his contract situation is better).

Mo Pete a really good idea. Finley for instance would make a tremendous impact on the Toronto team, since they desperately need another veteran leader. Rasho is good, but he is no authority on Bosh.

Mo Pete on the other hand knows how to shoot, eventhough he never quite knew how to defend.

maybe i'd rather settle for Mike Finley then.
