I've heard it numerous times as well.
I would also like to know why they're interested in Mo Pete.
I don't know if this has been discussed before but I'd like to know if there's truth to the rumor from CBS that the Spurs has been linked to this player, an SG, and they 're interested in him. So is it true?

The Spurs' main objective is to try to get more athletic. The Spurs also have been linked to Toronto swingman Morris Peterson.

Because he's a tough, active perimeter defender.
He shoots 39% from the field in the US and 49% in Canada. That's OK when 41 of your games are in Canada. Not so good when 81 of your games are in the US.
Mo Pete would be a perfect fit for the Spurs, he is an active perimeter defending SF with range. His defense isn't up there in the Bruce Bowen category, but he is much better offensively, and is one of the better finishers in the league.
As a Spurs fan, I have always wanted Mo Pete as a Spur, but it's unlikely the Spurs can get him, the Raptors are no longer stupid now that they have Colangelo running the show.
WHY? The asnwer is SIMPLE - here is his stats currently for the season - per 48 min. of Play:
Rebounding Statistics
Player AS/48 ST/48 TO/48 BK/48 OR/48 TR/48 peterson,morris 2.0 1.7 1.4 0.2 1.5 7.7
He is got 7.7 Rbs per 48 min. so he CAN rebound the Basketball - he is also athletic and CAN shoot 3s - 45 out of 129 or .349 FG% shooting 3s -
Compare to Finley:
finley,michael 2.7 0.5 1.6 0.3 0.8 6.3
30 out 93 .323 FG% shooting 3s
barry,brent 4.0 1.4 1.5 0.3 0.5 4.9
53 out of 110 .482 FG% shooting 3s
Peterson is the same passer as Finley, but worse than Barry, but he is got the same amount of TOs, and Blocks per game, BUT IS FAR SUPERIOR in steals per game, plus Offensive rbs and Total Rbs per 48 - MUCH better than Finley and Barry; Thus if the Spurs trdae Barry or finley for Peterson, they would get better defender and a rebounder - My opinion is the Spurs SHOULD kepp Barry, who is univerasl and trdae Finley for Mo Peterson - it will be great for us, if we get rid of Finley, but I doubt such a trade will take place...
Looking at C. Maggette - here is his stats:
AS/48 ST/48 TO/48 BK/48 OR/48 TR/48
maggette,corey 2.7 1.3 4.2 0.1 2.2 10.0
Corey Maggette 4 out of 34 .118 shooting 3s, so the Spurs would get ONLY rebounding, subtsantial rebouding by acquiring Maggette, but losing Barry's 3s, and his passing and defending...Barry is the only one out of the 3 who has a positive SPREAD if you look at Tnd/48 vs. Pts/48 - 23.39-18.93 = + 4.46, which shows you Barry contributed OTHER WAYS, not only by passing and scoring 3s, the only problem Barry has is the rebounding...BUT I WOULDN'T TRADE BARRY for Maggette right now -Maggette has 4.2 TO/48 - he is turning the ball over so many times...which is NOT good at ALL...
...It will be excellent trade for the Spurs - they will acquire Peterson's rebounding capabilities total of 7.7 rbs per 48 min. is GREAT, also 1.4 )R/48 is better than Finley and Beno. He is also much better defender than Finley and Beno - 1.7 stls/48 vs. Finley's 0.5 and Beno's 1.3
Rebounding Statistics
Player AS/48 ST/48 TO/48 BK/48 OR/48 TR/48
peterson,morris 2.0 1.7 1.4 0.2 1.5 7.7
finley,michael 2.7 0.5 1.6 0.3 0.8 6.3
Beno Udrih 6.3 1.3 3.4 0.1 0.7 3.9
Peterson is better from the 3-pt line by shooting 3s at .349 vs. Beno's .292 and Finley's .323...The Spurs will lose some passing, BUT Barry can pick that up as becoming the backup to Tony at the point, Peterson CAN replace Bruce Bowen...
Peterson's spread (Tnd overall i Pts/48) is (-.05) negative vs. Finley's (-1.93) negative and Beno's (-3.41) negative, meaning Peterson doesn't hurt the Raptors much overall (not helping much either), but Finley and Beno are HURTING THE SPURS BIG TIME...
Peterson is experienced 3-pt shooter, he can decide games for the Spurs shooting 3s...Finley is a Goose Egg- he needs to leave ASAP!!!![]()

So if they lose Tony and Manu's backups, who will play behind them? Barry can't play both.
I think we should trade Beno and Barry for a new thread.
Include two troll names and you've got a deal.
i don't want Beno or Finley to be traded.
However, your wanting to send them to the Raptors made me think...how cool would be cool to have three Slovenians on the same NBA team.
We need more Slovenians in the draft.![]()
the stats you linked to are garbage.
Name Min FG 3Pt FT Off Reb Ast TO Stl Blk PF Pts
M. Peterson 27 2-5 1-3 2-2 0 1 1 1 0 0 5 7
really? thanks for telling me he he
BTW, i didn't notice how good this player is..and i never realized some of the Spurs fans actually like him.. i 'm just wondering how this would affect Bowen's minutes or future with this this team if Mo joins the Spurs(which I think is quite a 50-50 chance).
New team + expiring contract = (hopefully) hired gun

What? Are we trying to create the worst and most lethargic team of all time?
No thanks to Morris Peterson.
So what. Duncan, Parker and Ginobili take 99% of the shots anyway. You don't need him to be a go to scorer. Not saying they should get him, but 40% from the field isn't going to hurt the Spurs offensively if they get an active perimeter defender for the Suns and Mavs...because right now people, the Spurs are not getting to the Finals.
Theres way better options out there than him.,So what
Thats why.
Next.
But he's such a great defender!
It's that damn exchange rate.
I can't believe your comparing a former all-star, to some guy who has never played a consistant starting role. Man, I have never met so many manics in my entire life. It's as if you want everyone scoring 10+ppg, averaging close to 50% from the field. Yeah, if you give Michael Finley 25+ minutes a game, I would place odds on that he will have a productive game. At the moment, Pop is working 3 new players into our rotation, which has taken some minutes away from those normally in rotation. This may seems to hurting the team at the moment, but I GUARANTEE it will pay off come playoff time. Michael has only been in the system for a year, give him some time.
eh, Finley knows the system.
Hes just having a bad season.
Getting some young blood in here, would push this team back to the top.
Sounds like good logic, until you realize that you need efficient players in roles, not AI-alikes, shooting 40%.
he hasn't been doing so well lately
btw, does he have herpes? or is that just a rumor?
Because he'll be 30 years old this year, and Spurs need some over 30 years old players.
