New look is much better. You can only stick around with a style from the 1990's so long before you have no visitors.
I like the new look too, that orange color was offensive. Yahoo! needed a facelift to keep up with the compe ion. Drop down menus have been around longer than my team being mediocre/bad, about time Yahoo!!

My problem isn't so much the thought of a design change, but the poorly executed one that is in place now. You can change styles, but they basically took all the worst features of ESPN, FoxSports, CBS Sportsline, SI.com and rolled them into one jumbled mess.
Basically, I just think it's hard to read overall because they've tried to be too artistic with it and what's wrong with a simple white background with black text and pictures for a home page? Too many pictures that are too large and obtrusive.
I hate ESPN. You need to subscribe to Insider to read all their news. Crap. I prefer SI.
The thing about Yahoo's old website was that it was efficient and loaded quickly because there weren't too many graphics and crap to take up bandwith. If I wanted a lot of ads and media, I would have gone to those other sites.
Exactly!
It is almost imposible to browse with handheld.
the old design sucked. point is they needed a change and got one. not the best but ok, i still perfer espn and SI more though.
See, that's our point. They obviously did this redesign to try and grab customers like you, but if you're still gonna go to those other sites, then why are they alienating those of us that prefered the simple layout?
I just use an Insider login that I found on Google. No way was I actually going to pay for that .![]()
Don't you visit all of those sites anyway? Did you only go to Yahoo?
And based on some of your posts, it sounds like one of your complaints is load time. correct? For me it's no slower or quicker ... but I'm lucky in the sense that I've got very good upload and download speeds.
While I love the look and overall design, I admit that messed up in not building it to be accessible to the slowest bandwidth and weakest hardware. Not all will be able to enjoy it due to their restraints.
But as someone who has no restraints, It's nice to see a site updated to the future. Give me Multimedia accessible videos. Give me images larger than thumbnails.
With todays level of improved tech, and most IP companies offering higher bandwidth speeds i imagine most sites are gonna make upgrades as you see Yahoo doing.
yahoo sports has a banner add program on top no wonder they changed it
Yeah, my hardware is fine. Just TimeWarner Cable sucks sometimes and I'll get terrible browsing speeds. Times where I'll have written a post on here and gone to submit and it's given me a "page cannot be displayed" error and stuff. Yeah, I go to those other websites like ESPN for their specific side items like Page 2, Daily Dime, Power Rankings, Chad Ford's Top 150 and stuff. But for simple AP articles, pics, and boxscores (and Steve Kerr), I've always preferred Yahoo for it's simplicity and easy navigation. I was just putting on the old man "I'm resistant to change" hat. We shall fondly look upon the good old days when Coke was a nickel and Yahoo was simple.
I'm just the type of guy who has like 8+ browser windows open so Yahoo's can suck a few extra resources. I'll probably get a pre-loaded Vista PC come April because I've pretty much maxed out all I can from this 6-year old one I'm on.
dude I have timewarner
you my friend need to stay off the porn sites
Timewarner Houston and TimeWarner SA must be different... I think they need to replace some lines in my area.
