most of you assume that the spurs are back because of a few good games. as a spurs fan, i think we just have to wait and see what happens the rest of the season. sure the spurs are playing much better than most of the games earlier this season, but we need to see it consistently, and they haven't even gotten close to playing at the level that they know how to play. i'm starting to think that us spurs fans are a little spoiled with all of our winning over the past decade. i mean, i know we all hate to see them lsoe, but c'mon this is the spurs, they will be there in the end. we can only hope that they get much better and i'm confident they will do so. go spurs go!

If we can get a Scorer SF who can give some energy from the bench For beno ,I think weŽll be ok.Elson has been decent for a starting Center in the last two games or so, and vaughn isnŽt that bad like many people thinks he is.(at least for 10 to 15 Mins P/game)
I liked the spurs D these last two games ,though, and the most important thing is that the reserves squad doesnŽt suck any more(thanx to manu and vaughn)

looked alot more like the spurs that noboby really wants to deal with in the playoffs, which is good. i think the wcf is not out of reach for them, but they will have to stop being so streaky.
I completely agree ; I hope they get more consistent

The Spurs have been playing much better as of late. That means there is still a realistic chance that my Mavs get to be the team who ends their season in dominant fashion in 4/5 games. The Spurs D is still good enough to frusterate some teams not named Dallas.

Would you rather they blow games against crappy teams like they did earlier in the season. They're improving.

Denver plays no D, Pistons couldn't hit their shots. I say this b/c I know Chumpdumper (respect) will say no we haven't proved anything, which is true. But looking at our defense the last 3 games, I pose the question, are we starting to turn the corner and getting ready to crank it up? As Whott would say... Discuss. One last thinq... TONY PARKER IS THE MUTHA ING TRUTH!

Everyone knows the Spurs have struggled during these first 50 games or so of this season. They've already lost as many games so far as they did all of last year - and in a variety of ways. Everything from blowing seemingly insurmountable leads, playing down to the level of inferior compe ion, experiencing 3rd & 4th quarter defensive collapses and prolonged offensive droughts.

I've looked at the upcoming schedule for the next month. There are a slew of home games mixed in with various road opponents that the Spurs should beat - assuming they maintain their current level of improved play. In fact, the tougher opponents they will face will be at home. For example, along with road games against patsies like the Sonics, Warriors, Blazers and Clippers there are scheduled home games against stalwarts like the Heat, Pistons, Magic, Pacers, Jazz and Rockets. Solid opponents, yet all very beatable by an upper-echelon team that is priming itself toward making a run deep into the playoffs.

Personally, I'm looking for a nice, long winning streak of no less than 13-15 games. They've already got 3 in the books. I know that's expecting a lot, but this team needs to act upon its stated commitment toward playing better basketball. Reeling off such a streak would go a long way toward demonstrating that commitment, developing their own brand of confidence and it would prove, without a doubt, that would have indeed "turned the corner".

Based on the way they played against the Pistons and whipped up on the Nuggets i think the Spurs are going to make a big push here in the next 10 games or so. Winning a le this year is still a longshot but we all now they are better than they have played for most of this year.

In my opinion, there never was a corner to turn. We started out 22-8, pretty good, since then we are 14-10, leading now to 36-18 overall, the third best record in the league behind Dallas and Phoenix despite struggles. If we can pull off that good a record by struggling, we're in good shape for the playoffs when they turn it on. Phoenix we already know will make it no further than the WCF, and I'd take SA over Phoenix in a 7-game series simply bc of Spurs' defense.

The Spurs have been doubted all year long for one reason: 2 losses against Dallas. All other losses are pretty much meaningless. If you look at all 3 games with Dallas, the Spurs played well, and were not dominated in those games.

I think all the talk about Houston, Utah, and LA can stop now. Please.

I'm still laughing at all the people who said Houston or LA would pass SA in the standings.

I say yes. But I always knew the Spurs would pull it together unlike most of the posters on this board who doubted them.
Yeah, and you also fiddled while Rome burned.

Let's not bust out the popsicles just yet, people.

Let's see em beat Dallas and Phoenix once or twice before making noise about them turning the corner.

If the Spurs are playing at their best they can beat anyone of the top teams in the league. 3 games with Dallas all real close great games. They are 1-1 against the Suns who i know they can beat in the playoffs because the Suns are still mediocre on D. That damn 1 seed was really important the Mavs should be well rested for the West finals while the Spurs and Suns will probably have beaten the out of eachother in the 2nd round.

You have already seen than they beat Dallas once lost 2 close ones and beat the Suns earlier in the year.

True. But those wins are ancient history. They beat Dallas opening night, and Phoenix the next game (or was it the third game of the season?). Either way, neither the Mavs nor the Suns were playing well the first week.

Like I said, let's not start sucking each others popsicles just yet. Let's beat premier compe ion NOW and forget about those next-to-meaningless wins in early November. Because we know Dallas and Phoenix have.

Sure but the other 2 losses to Dallas were razor thin games and could have gone either way. Of course i am probably jinxing them and they will lay an egg in Atlanta tonight but i hope not.

Shoot, the Spurs never lay eggs in Atlanta!

I'd love to go to the game tonight. Tickets are easy to come by there. Spent alot of time in Atlanta after the storm. Half the city of New Orleans (the half that didn't end up in Texas) went to Atlanta because of the storm. Crime and murder rates skyrocketed.

RC's Boss, I'll get your back here...

While it is only 3 games, it does look like they're turning the corner. Obviously, the Nuggets aren't a great shooting team (last in the league in 3P%, I believe), but they have the leagues two leading scorers -- and the Spurs held them to 24 points (their previous combined low was 49).

I'll be more inclined to jump on the bandwagon that says they've turned that corner if they can keep up this style of play...but for now, it's starting to look VERY promising. I imagine we might even be able to take the Suns for the second seed.

I don't know about anyone else here, but Tony's alley-oop to Brent Barry sent chills up and down my spine...it goes to show that their level of energy is sky-rocketing (first ever TP alley-oop in a Spurs' uni) and they're going out and having fun.

    Love it...keep it up, boys.

Yeah kind of. Now they're playing like the third best team in the west. Before they were playing like they don't even deserve to be in the playoffs.

"the Spurs never lay eggs in Atlanta!"

autumn 2002, bottom dweller Hawks beat Spus before 10 fans.

Hawks did the same thing to the Mavs, who started 14-0.

One win means nothing. When we will win 10 in a row then start to make this kind of threads.
