I'm totally bringing down the value of this site.
It's nice to have that kind of influence.

Troll. Forum.
Money cannot accuarately gauge the value of that subforum alone.
This is an interesting article I read yesterday. I think it truly shows the worth of SpursTalk.
Blazers first with social networking site
By JOHN LOMBARDO
The Portland Trail Blazers are the first NBA franchise to create their own social networking site, the latest experiment as teams increasingly market to users of blogs, message boards and other community fan sites.
Last month, the Blazers launched iamatrailblazersfan.com, their first team-run social networking site. Since the mid-February launch, more than 3,000 people have registered to participate on the site, and team officials hope it will assist their grassroots marketing efforts while increasing fan communication.
“If you are pushing information via e-mail and only 20 percent of fans open up the e-mail, then you want to find a way to spread news about the team in a fast and effective way,” said Dan Harbison, Internet marketing manager for the Blazers. “Others can leverage sites such as MySpace, but we are not able to sell tickets or sponsors through it so we are looking at what we see as benefits of our own [social network].”
This move is the latest in a series of the Blazers’ online initiatives, as the franchise was one of the first to create a “team evangelist” position to maximize its use of the Internet and technology to present the Blazers’ point of view.
While no other NBA franchise has a team-run social networking site, one industry analyst predicts the rest of the league will eventually follow the Blazers.
“What is unfolding in the market is that a lot of the [social networking] activity is happening outside of the team’s borders,” said Tom Richardson, president of Convergence Sports & Media. “[Social networking] is happening in the movie business, in television, and in politics, and you will see an increase in the efforts of sports teams to get in the game. These sites can be a living, breathing focus group for your agenda. Whether it is a new marketing effort or some new ticket arrangement, teams can follow the chatter if they empower the user.”
Once a user registers with their personal information at iamatrailblazersfan.com, they continue to a site that is heavy on ticket promotions and message boards featuring mostly praise of the team, though last week there was some mild criticism and arguments for player trades. The site also offers links to other users sharing the same hometown and team interests.
The team monitors user behavior and said it will allow criticism but not profanity.
“We let people have their own opinions,” Harbison said. “We are seeing the amount of people coming to the site increase and we just sold a high-end group ticket package to users.”
The NBA and other teams are looking closely at how well the Blazers’ site translates into new business.
“Portland is doing it as an experiment, and we are interested in seeing if it is something the fans want,” said Steve Grimes, senior director of interactive services for the NBA. “We have our own league social networking site, but we are taking a multipronged approach in the way the Web is going. The one question is whether it leads into something meaningful for the team’s business.”
The NBA is now making it easier for teams to set up their own social networking sites by changing its policy to allow teams to promote other sites on their official team sites. In the past, the NBA prohibited teams from referring to other URLs on team sites, but the Blazers now prominently market their social networking site on Blazers.com.

I think the Blazer's social network will be limited until a new hoof-friendly user interface is introduced.

Ya know.
That would be usefull, if they once in a while, took a SERIOUS, FA suggestion, like we do here, under consideration.
That would be great.
A censored team-run forum <<<<<<<<<<<<< SpursTalk.
Censored team run forums suck. I'm no longer welcome on several other forums.
ill offer you guys a half eaten snickers, some pocket lint and 2 mint condition david robinson rookie cards
Wait, so Pop knows infinitely more than anyone on this site when it comes to coaching, but you think he should listen to our ideas for free agency?

kingstalk couldnt have helped
If I was offered 500K I would have sold out![]()
What makes you think you're welcome here?
I'm beloved by every single Spurstalk member. Of course I'm welcome.
All that articles shows is how special Spurstalk truly is. Like others have mentioned, a team-run, censored forum blows.
you, I didn't apreciate your comments. off.

Six freaking figures?
Why not just sell it and then start a new board after they slap a bunch of lame rules on us?
Three-year non-compete agreement.
I could hang low for 3 years.
Transfer ownership to me...I'll sell it, give ya'll all the money, then you can open new site![]()
Six figures...for a messageboard...damn.
There's an enormous amount of traffic here and people know they could make a lot of money off this site if they put banner, pop-ads everywhere. There were two major offers in the last year. One guy was interested in buying it to make it part of a network of sports sites and he was trying to buy existing sites of a bunch of successful teams. The other was a group (corporation?) trying to buy it.
We get offers all the time in the $10-25K range. But those two offers were more substantial.
Better idea...
Get SPAM to pay you for the advertising...
Well I agree that no sports forum I have seen competes with this forum for traffic...maybe ESPN or RealGM...that's it. It's an awesome forum. But I'd be afraid to pay that kind of money for one for the very reason that it could lose traffic easily with just a few rule changes.
I remember when ya'll were approached...didn't they even offer to let ya'll stay on and admin it?
The truth is that if someone is offering that kind of money for this site that means the moneymaking potential is huge...I wonder what those guys know.
