Unlike Cuban, the Spurs FO and Pop are so gentlemanly and low key that they don't demand action in the press. Of course, Cuban can afford the fines and once paid $250,000 for one fine.
Whether you like it or not, the squeaky wheel gets some action, even if they fine it. Stern simply can't take the heat of bad publicity for the league when it's out front and loud. In this case, there may be more action in our favor because it isn't just the Spurs but nearly the whole damn country that is criticing Crawford.
