Mav Fan is already pulling the Cowboy/Rangers/Stars/UT/A&M card.
i've never lived in dallas. i was referring to summer sports like tennis, soccer and cycling. i root for the raiders thanks to my brother, the ans because of young, the yankees from living in brooklyn and UT/A&M don't belong in the same sentence. you should learn to read other posts before making dumb comments. i've already stated my position in the other threads about where the mavs stand as far as this series goes. oh, btw, take care of your own spurs cliffjumpers before worrying about what mav fan is doing.

Their regular season record was pretty much a fluke I guess

I've been saying they just don't have the leadership qualities you need on a championship team. In fact Golden State has more leadership and experience (BD and S-JAX and Nelly) and I think that's where they have a major psychological advantage.

    Golden State in 6

Who on the Mavs has shown the ability, other than Dirk, to consistently (more than 1 year) prove that he/she can show up and play when it really matters?

Jason Terry was on the hawks, stackhouse was a nobody before Dallas who was on losing teams, Dampier was on terrible teams. the list goes on and on. These players played well together for ONE ing year.

    This team is overrated

Hmm....that may be an overstatement. I think AJ's a good leader. But the tech's the Mavs got in this game, weren't exactly good marks for a team that's supposed to have the mental advantage. (As evidenced in last year's finals)

The Mavs played terribly, the bigs contributed a whopping three points when they could be schooling smaller guys like Biedrins and Harrington but instead they're playing hot potato with the ball. JHO played alright, but then maybe I'm biased because he's my favorite guy on the court. Dirk was alright, not great, but then he didn't have help from anyone early on and lots of players sucked it up, afraid to drive in and get the calls. Rolling out the red carpet for Baron whenever he desired to go to the hole didn't help either. Unfortunate matchup with the Warriors who have mentally screwed with the Mavericks so props to them.
Biedrins is 6'11" and good for 1.7 BPG. Kinda far-fetched to mention the matchup with Biedrins when he is predominately a defensive post player. He scored 2 at the line and had 4 buckets, most were dunks, at least one was a putback. Not much your bigs can do about that, being that Dampier is the same height and about 100 pounds heavier

Baron powered his way into the paint and yes, exposed Mav's lack of post defense, which is ritical when you get deep into the playoffs.

I'm not too keen on defensive matchups, I lose my place watching them. Who was Dirk guarding most of the night, did you notice? Well, I guess it doesn't matter, your whole team lost on the defensive end. Hopefully watching the tape will tell a story.

The Mavs are too hyped. Every Spurs fan knows how long it took for the spurs to actually gain some repsect. Why is everyone sucking the mavs after they had one good year? Let them win a championship...until then they haven't done .

Biedrins is alright if you let him just play his game and don't play and D on him. I had him on my fantasy team for a long time but dropped him due to his inconsistent play. The reason he was inconsistent was because there are teams out there who take him out of his game and play hard...the Mavs are obviously not doing that. I think Damp could easily outmatch Biedrins with a good feed. He's not going to be quicker than Biedrins but under the basket, he could easily outpower him for some points and maybe even get him in foul trouble....same goes for Diop.

I don't remember about Dirk, I was too caught up listening to Bill Walton and getting more ticked off. Doesn't matter though, game over, next game's on Sunday and in between there are some good games tomorrow.

DIRK has shown the ability? Did you watch last years finals. If there 1 guy on that team who curls up into a ball in the highest pressure situations, it's Dirk.

Your underestimating Biedrins Ponky. The kid can play. He's been growing up all season. He doesn't have the mental toughness (yet) to bring it every night, but he's come a long way, and I think he might just end up pretty good.

you're cool, trueD's just always been a mavs-hater...oh, and a stalker which is kind of weird but whatever
thanks right back at you, but i don't think she's exactly hating on the team, nor is Sanity.... but i guess the thought to kings fans (who have no one else to rely on but the warriors, i think) having them beat the mavs is sort of nice. i don't hate the mavs one bit, nor am i a hater of anyone, but it's just that it sucks not being in the playoffs, so some of us get a little pissy and excited at times you know? it'd probably be different if they were in the playoffs. but anyways, this IS my favorite series, it's really exciting, as i love watching the mavs and how they play. it's hard to know who's yet gonna win, as both teams are great in their own way. i think it's going to be a close series though.

lol, i love your avatar...hey, i'm rooting for the bulls in the east as well. i understand what you're saying about not being in the playoffs too, i've been a knicks fan a lot longer than i've been a mavs fan, since i was a little kid! enjoy the series, whatever happens.

The series is only 3 games old and you're acting
like it's already over ? This is obviously your first year watching the nba playoffs.

I still think the Mavs have the best shot at winning the le this year.

no i'm not, i think he's going to be a very good baller, i just think because of his youth that he's still inconsistent from game to game. i followed him all the time early on because like i said, he was on my fantasy team so i'm not dissing him, i just don't think he's always consistent at this point in time. i look forward to seeing more of him in the future and i was pissed off as (haha, can i blame him?) when i heard that dirk's german coach, holger, was helping biedrins with his terrible ft shooting

GS completely owns at the guard position, and Nellie has the advantage over Avery because he knows the habits of the Mavs players. Dallas has a huge advantage inside, but there best player Dirk still shoots instead of taking it to the rim strong.

I thought that Dallas would win the series even though the Warriors would put up a heck of a fight. I hope I am wrong, I like GS more than the Mavs.

Thank ya. Dirk is a mediocre defender at best, and was quite busy on that end of the court if he was guarding Jackson. No wonder Dirk wasn't worth in the 2nd half.

Dallas was totally discombobulated, every Maverick was balking. That probably won't be so next time.
