gut it out like a warrior...wanting to play...

He better have wanted to play, I'm pretty sure anyone would. Blood doesn't = extreme pain. Nash barely was affected by the cut, it just didn't stop bleeding.

If anyone hadn't wanted to return after that , they'd be labely the biggest vagina in the world, and in all fairness.
Come on, I think Nash getting up without asking his coach, was cool enough to see. Don't try to downplay Nash's heart.

I used to think comparing him to Stockton was a joke, but right now he's much better than Stockton ever was.
Uhm. Gamewise, I would still take Stockton over Nash due to Stockton's defensive capabilities. But Nash is still out there among the best point guards ever.

    I'm not at all. I like Nash a lot, he's a of a player.

I'm just saying, why dont we put things in perspective...Nash is a two-time MVP in the NBA playoffs, 2nd round against arguably the best team alive in the playoffs. That cut clearly didn't hurt at all after seeing how he was barely affected, it was just blood.

Considering this, why the wouldn't Nash want to return?

Why don't one of you fans in San Antonio stab him in the stomach and see if he returns before labeling him King Leonidas of Sparta.

    true, true, I gotcha.

I just thought it was funny to see D'Antoni as the figurehead he really is. And Nash going in to kick out Diaw.

I'll agree with this. Losing today probably pissed Steve off more than that gash hurt. He gets credit for wanting to play through an injury, but it's not like he couldn't have played and played well had the rules not prohibited him from doing so. It's not like he had an eye ripped out, or a joint dislocated.

I agree, though IMO Stockton was a dirty defensive player; Malone and he were both a dirty combo.

Are you just downplaying what happened to Nash? It is a gash. It is still a painful injury. Nash not affected? A lot can go on. It might have affected his vision and obviously discomforted him. Have you seen him applying water into his eyes yet still wanting to play?

    C'mon.

Nash gets huge props from me.

Up until this year, he was an overrated player. But this year, he's playing amazing, amazing basketball. Way better than he's ever played.

He went from a horrible defender to actually a pretty damn good help defender and a serviceable one-on-one defender. Offensively, he used to have to dominate the ball to but up huge stats. Now he can dominate without having to dribble 15 times each possession.

I used to think comparing him to Stockton was a joke, but right now he's much better than Stockton ever was.
I agree. Ironically this was the first season I actually thought Nash deserved the MVP award...and of course he doesn't get it.

Tony also went to the Suns' bench to check on Nash.
Great sportsmanship by both of them. It's nice to see.

I felt so bad for Steve. I think the result of the game might've been different had the run in with Tony never happened.

Good promising series with 2 classy, down-to-earth point guards calling the shots for both teams.

Hear! Hear! Here's to an injury-free series!

I liked that exchange between both Tony and Steve. This team has mutual respect for each other, which is great for the league on a national level.

(Except Stoudamire might be a little frosty with Ginobili.. )

Yeah, props to Nash. His is gutsy, gritty and talented, and has a great basketball brain. On top of that, he's Canadian, the Aussies of the Northern Hemisphere!

I hate when players like him get that type of injury. But props for really wanting to gut it out and play. Heart of a warrior...

    EDIT: unlike his dallas buddy...

I agree. That guy has ice water in his veins. We were fortunate that he was on the sidelines during the most crucial time of the game. He is waaay better now than he was in 05 without a doubt.

I was amazed when he took the hit that he never went down

I don't think he even knew he was bleeding until he saw the blood dripping down.

Seriously he really IS that good. He's a legitimate superstar on a tier level of Kobe and Tim. Not necessarily in abilities, but the way he changes the game with his presence.

In 2005, I never considered him as such.

I live in Dallas and when he played here I knew he was good but I didnt think he was great. The guy is great, played with heart (esp today bleeding all over the place) and isnt a crybaby. I will note as well Parker took quite a crack on the head that I think knocked him out and came back tough. A good game by any standard by both teams.

You know the funny thing with Nash is that he makes it look so effortless. I remember the one play when he literally danced his way into the paint and scored with ease with Duncan right there. Too Good is all I have to say.

In other news, Dirk was seen rolling around in the drops of Nash's blood after the game, murmuring "I have his powers now!! HAHAHAHAHAH."

I just WISH Nash would have come back in to the game and said, "nobody makes me bleed my own blood!" Then hit the game winner... but alas, we have to wait until next game before the MV3 gets his revenge.

If this happened to Dirk, he would most likely scream bloddy murder and faint on the spot. Nash deserves his MVP awards.
you idiot. Dirk once lost some teeth and came back in a game. I'm sick of these kind of comments. Yes Dirk choked but he gave it all.
